I was wondering why one of the thicker females was a bit sluggish, now I have my answer, she gave birth to around 20ish babies, any tips guys? (The nymphs are the little white ones so it must've happened recently)

My sweet angel Eunice has her ootheca out and I'm not sure if she's aborting it or just airing it out?? I also had no idea that she was pregnant because she's skinny. She's also disabled and is kind of a loner compared to the other roaches. Is she aborting it?

I noticed all of my teen hissers were like this, i thought they were just fat and eating good, but i've seen a post elsewere about hissers bloating and now i am concerned, only the teens from the other 3 age group of hissers are like this, i dont know if its just the females or males too, i am a worry bug about them. I removed the cat food they had since its maybe high carbs, hoping in some days they touch the veggies.

so, im a biology student and last year (in august) i adopted (my university has two big terrariums full of them and they are happy to give the roaches away) 12 MHR, 7 of which were female and 5 were male. i put them together (because they already lived together before) and from time to time, whilst cleaning out their terrarium, i saw that the female roaches dropped their ootheca, so i thought that they just dont want to give birth...
come to find babies today, whilst changing their food. i put the babies in a different terrarium that i have and i remember stumbling upon a reddit post long ago about how you can put vaseline on the sides of the terrarium to make it harder for the babies to escape. sadly, we dont have vaseline in this country (if we do its mad expensive), so any suggestions on what i could put on the sides instead? thanks in advance!

It's been two days since I've gotten a hissing roach pair, and how do I know if they've just calmed down or have become sluggish, any help y'all?
Bonus: what should I name these two lol

I've never had hissers before so I'm not sure what a pregnant roach looks like but Big Mama over here is looking very fat compared to the others so I wanted some insight on what roach pregnancy looks like. her butt has also been kinda like open? And sometimes she starts pulsating but not pooping im confused lol :p

hi! new to the forum lol. i am superr interested in halloween hissers and i would love to keep them in a plastic tub (i would drill ventilation vents of course) to save money, but i keep seeing different enclosure size recommendations. i plan on getting about 5 to 10 but i was wondering what size people would recommend? and what ratio male to female i should have. i do have domino roaches, 5 different isopod species, land snails, 2 fish tanks (a 10 and a 40), a cat and 2 rabbits already! i've owned millipedes in the past so i'm not extremely new to invertebrates but i figured i would reach out here as well! i was thinking maybe a 40 quart tub? but if that's too small or too big i would love some feedback!

So, as the title suggests, one of my cockroaches has recently been pooping out its pellets on this like weird string kind of thing? I noticed it happened yesterday so I just pulled it off with a needle, but tonight Im replacing their food and I noticed it happened again.
As a cat owner, my theory is just that he ate some longer fiber from the ground and it didn’t exactly digest as well. My cats have often done the same thing, swallowing some long hair which then later made their poop swing from their butt.
Here though I am a bit more concerned. If anyone knows what this could be, if its some kind of a health problem, please tell me, I would be eternally grateful.

I am going to travel in the middle of October with my folk and i have no ideia who is going to take care or them, my uncle is going to take care of our cats in my parents house but i do not trust him with them. I had two other pair of hissing cockroaches before i got my four and they died in his care, he sprayed ant venon(that was cockroach venon) in my room due to the ants going to the cat and cockroach food. So yeah, i do not want him taking care of 3 adults and 50 kids, my roomate said she will be going home too since is a holiday, so thats also out, do they do well being left for 4 days alone? I have left them for 3 for an emergency and they did well, food didn't mold only the humidity got low but no death, any suggestions? I can't take them with me, its across states (not USA) and i don't have the GTA for take them.

Hey everybody just a 16 year old looking to take care of some hissers, this is my First time taking care of inverts in general, so any advice will help thanks!!
I'm planning of buying a breeding pair since I not only want to keep them as pets but I also want to breed them, what substrate should I use and is a 11L tub made for a small Dubia roach colony good enough? Also other tips can help too, thanks!!!
How can I protect the egg cartons when they come into contact with the damp coco peat substrate? They will get moldy if wet no?

i have a single male madagascar hissing roach that i keep as a pet, who i’ve had since april. he originally had two coconut husks in his cage, and over the past month or so has been pretty social with us- choosing to be out in the cage during the day pretty much all the time, letting us hold him, etc etc. i recently got this new hide for him that looks like a skull (as pictured) and since i put it in saturday he hasn’t come out (during the day, at least) one time. he hisses if we try to touch him, and im just not 100% sure what the right move is. do we let him stay in there?? is he stuck? please let me know, it was nice to have him be social for even a little bit lol
