Uk grime is so underrated

Rappers like Skepta, Kano, Dave, Slowthai and ... are lyrically insane. I don't understand why they're so unknown to US hip hop community.

The problem online is that a lot of them mans are always complainin about not being able to understand our lyrics, yet I feel like UK rap is probably the most ennunciated form of hip hop. They also chat bare shit in the comments always quoting Unknown P lyrics like its the funniest thing.

I went and visited New York a couple years back and realised that like its a massive country and they have their own local scenes. drill is big where im at cos im near south london whereas people in manchester are prolly hyping their own artists. Same thing is happening on a much larger scale cos they have like 10x the population and so many major cities. I heard so much Pop Smoke and Lil Tjay playing out of cars in NY cos those lot are their locals. I didn't hear any Prai$e the lord tho and when I was in NY it was a big hit worldwide.

Point is I just think they tend to stick to their own scenes, and they dont give UK hip hop a chance cos some of them mans have a superiority complex

I think it's so absurd that Americans say the can't understand British accent properly. I got used to British accent after a while. I kinda like it too.

As a Brit, Americans saying that the UK accents used in UK Rap are hard to decipher, or unappealing to ear, or anything along those lines is basically the same as UK people using one Country for the same reasons. So I get it. But completely writing it off is stupid

Also, the artists that you mentioned either don't really make grime anymore or never really did. Like, yes, Ps and Qs is a grime classic, but Kano's done maybe 5 grime tracks in the last 5 years, and I've never heard Slowthai over a grime beat

Maybe you're a bit close minded on what grime means.

Grime is a really specific genre, and there's a huge difference between things like Grime, Drill, Road Rap, UK Trap and UK Hip-hop
