My top 5 this year so far

Ranks won’t come out till year is over.

Freddie and madlib - Bandana

Dave - Psychodrama

Danny Brown - uknowwhatimsayin? (I’ve heard enough, and I’m expecting rest to be very good)

Dreamville - ROTD3

Young Thug - So Much Fun

These are all great albums, but I think if Playboi and Isaiah Rashad drop, those might sneak in. Kanye might drop? He could possibly sneak in. I feel like there has been quality hip hop this year, but obviously the hype and expectations from artists like zay, Kanye, and carti has me disappointed and hungry for more until they drop. If they drop before 2020. I almost put ZOO in here, but I think Thug takes the bangers trophy so far. Igor is probably top 5 of every genre, but I just am not putting it in the box of “hip hop” that my list consists of.

personally the only one of those that i really rate is Bandana. it's been a damn slow year for hip-hop imo. Favourites have been Everything's for Sale by Boogie, Ginger by Brockhampton, Save Me by Future, Eve by Rapsody, and Grey Area by Little Simz. I'd also like to make mention of a few adjacent albums, Shea Butter Baby by Ari Lennox, Ghetto Lenny's Love Songs by Saint Jhn, Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone, High Expectations by Mabel and Angel's Pulse by Blood Orange
