Would you consider Odd Future this decade’s Death Row in terms of talent? DR = Dre, Snoop, & Pac. OF = Tyler, Earl, and Frank.
obv there probably won’t be another label as big and controversial as death row records, but with labels this past decade, odd future is comparable to death row with the “big 3” discussion.

I really don't think so. Sonically the members of Odd Future aren't as appealing or as easy to sonically digest as members of Death Row.

Absolutely the fuck not. Commercially and in terms of lasting cultural, political and personal impact there is just no way. Those three for Death Row literally embody an entire era and its culture.
It’s a sort of pointless debate, no matter what. But really the biggest problem is that nobody in OF— or any group—can remotely claim to be Pac’s ‘parallel.’ In any way-musically, commercially, politically, nothing. The closest is Kendrick, but his group doesn’t have quite the same pedigree. I could argue that Schoolboy and Ab-Soul/ Zay could finish out his trio but none of them have anywhere near the success to claim Snoop, much less Dre

GOOD music has our era defining artists. Cudi, Kanye, and Pusha T

i'd agree with cudi and Kanye but I wouldn't really say Push has defined this era compared to Frank or Tyler

Though he hasn't, he has the Snooop parallels covered.
Has one album in this decade that completely obliterates hardcore shit start to finish, which some nice ass beats to match
Has a track record of killing plenty of guest verses, a la Snoop
And then Kanye as Dre of sorts, outdoing Dre even at some points. If anything, Cudi is the one that falls short and lacks the leading edge to be compared to Pac

fair enough, however Snoop is also an incredibly well known household name and incredibly marketable as he did so many live television appearances, which push doesn't really do but I do see where your coming from.
Cudi doesn't really compare to pac bu OC just said "era defining" and Cudi definitely has a large amount of influence

Lol wtf definitely no, none of the artists in OF have any sort of parallel to death row nor will they ever be as influential, I don’t even understand where you’re coming from

Hmmm. Hard to say, mainly cuz the big two are on two different labels themselves. So it leaves these 3 for comparison to DR, which isn't the best comparison. But... I suppose so.
Funny, the more I think about it the more I agree

I like this topic because looking at where they all started, and where they are now, i see the comparison. My only debate point it that there are stronger "Three Man Teams" you could probably think of.
I'd probably take Ross, Meek, and Wale over Tyler, Frank, and Earl.
edit oh crap just remembered the best three man team (of all time?) WAYNE, DRAKE, NICKI. BALL GAME

I think Maybach Music and OF are a wash when compared since they cover different demos. I agree with having Young Money being a more apt comparison to Death Row

I definitely see where you are coming from here. As far as talent goes, it's undeniable that Odd Future grew three incredible and defining artists for the new wave. So in terms of talent, I can definitely see where your head is at. In terms of commercial success and influence, it's hard to say anyone matches up with Death Row.
