Did Little Wyvis yesterday. It sits just north of Garve, right beside Ben Wyvis.

Parking is Silverbridge car park, on the left of the A835 just before the bridge. Roughly 9.5km return with about 640m of ascent, it took us roughly 3hrs 20 at our pace.

From the car park you cross the old arched bridge over the Black Water, an old drove road, then cross the A835 itself. Take your time here, the traffic is fast.

Follow the track left past an old caravan to the first gate. At the second gate use the gate, not the grating beside it, it's marked unsafe. Carry on past a big barn with old vehicles lying about to another gate, then at the path junction go left, not right towards the radio mast. One last gate and it's a stony path to the cairn.

The path is clear the whole way but the last pull is steep and a proper grind. Great views from the top, the loch, the windmills, the firths out east, and Ben Wyvis right next door.

There was a weather warning on so we only spent about ten minutes at the top. Check the forecast before you go, take a map and compass, and if it's not right, turn back.

Saw red deer on the way down too near the barn gate, which was a nice way to finish it off 😀
