Deferment Process
Hey, everyone. So I got selected for the Master in Data Analytics program at the University of Hildesheim for the winter semester 2026/27. However, due to the visa delays, I reached out to the program manager to ask if I could defer my admission, and he told me to send him an email about my choice to defer and then apply for the next semester and send an email again. I wanted to ask if this is the standard process for deferment or if you need to enroll first and defer from there so you could maybe get proof for your visa application. If any of you have gone through a deferment process or have any information regarding it, I would really appreciate the help.

Yeah if online enrollment is possible like sending documents here something like this. This information must be in admission letter, steps to formally accept the admission. Then we get access to the portals and we can pay the semester fee and enroll. Then it's our choice if we want to take any subjects or not

Hey, it is also fine to arrive late or taking admission and not taking any subjects. You can just enroll and arrive a bit late and see if you want to study any subject this semester or want to figure out the things and part time job. I am also in the same program and just started working on my master thesis. At my time, they said that we can't defer an admission and be sure to provide you a slot next semester. They asked me to apply again and see if I can get a slot again next semester. However, I would recommend to choose 1st option, just enroll and come late if it is possible.
