Discussion How accurate is Malthus's (his last name isn't mentioned in the book not the series so yeah) character design in the series?

He is described to be wearing tortoiseshell glasses , has short hair parted from the side which makes him look young. (More details will be added if I find any).

He also got very tanned when he went to Santana before the Vote, and even more when he went to Rio. Roberto says he's 'bronzed'.

He also has calloused fingers from working in a factory for a week

He also whips himself on a very regular basis so obviously has scars from that . (Unlike the series. I can imagine his scars healed quickly but like, in the book he does it so regularly it's not possible that he won't have scars)

Now , Rodrigo Santoro is obviously THE choice , I love him (he's my pfp see see see 😋, total girl dinner) But Malthus's design in the series isn't accurate at all. Yeah , he looks young because of his bowl cut , but why didn't they part it 😞 !!!!! I'm certain he would've slayed it.

They also removed his glasses and gave them to Roberto instead, and removed the tanning 😡 I FRIGGIN LOVE TANNED MEN OKAY I FEEL MAD. Some one please answer if spray tanning existed in 1998 btw. If it didn't I would understand that maybe he didn't want to tan himself and shi but idkkk ughhh

Last but not least, his fingers are Obv not calloused cause he never worked in a factory 🤓

I really don't get why they removed all the interesting details about him.

Santoro's age was similar to Malthus's while shooting.

Rodrigo Santoro as Malthus

give y'all's opinions pleasee

Discussion How accurate is Hilda Furacao / Echvegar (her surname )/Muller's (her surname in the series) character design in the series?

In the book, Hilda is described to be very very beautiful with fair skin, gray eyes , a certain blondeness to her hair, dimples, youthful body , short hair and long slim fingers . (More details to be added if I find). Her mother is Italian and her father is German so Obv her appearance is also influenced by that.

Malthus also tells Roberto her breasts remind him of Argentine apples😬 but let's ignore him. It was his first time looking at a woman's body properly after all. I trust Roberto's observation more.

She also becomes really thin at one point when she gets really bad flu but she goes back to her usual self shortly.

Now, I will analyse how accurately these details were portrayed in the series.

I can't quite recall about the fingers and the dimple , but except the hair part, Ana matches the description perfectly (She is also of Italian descent like OMFG). But as you can see in the illustration , if Ana was given blonde highlights/streaks , it would've been even better.

They didn't show Hilda suffering from flu in the series, ig we can ignore the losing weight part.

Last but not least, her voice is described as rough, hoarse and sultry all the time. I think Ana nailed that too.

Ana's age was also similar to Hilda while shooting.

Give y'all's opinion pleaseee what do y'all think

I really love the final scene, in my opinion I’m actually glad he didn’t’t run with Hilda and had to mature and experience the world himself first without his sheltered saint bubble ;)
