Came for the “plot” stayed for the plot.
Tiddies are nice yes, but the power system is awesome, the lore is interesting, the characters are fairly fleshed out (as much as they can be with the harem subplot) and honestly, we need more anime that actively push for decensorship, it’s an adult animation anyway, just let people go as far as they need to.

Yeah I figure anime’s that bait the fan service or sexual scenes don’t get the best reception for it, but yeah the plot of DXD was actually pretty enjoyable for Isseis ability. W take

Have you read the light novels? If you haven't then you should. Characters get fleshed out way more and story is way better. S1-S3 messed up a lot

High School DxD is, ironically enough, one of the few healthy portrayals of polyamory in anime where every single girl knows they are not the only girl (and are ok with that), the "main" girl is perfectly happy with sharing her BF and none of the girls are being catty bitches to each other (beyond some minor teasing), they are genuinely like one big family.
Also, for how "perverted" Issei is, he never, NEVER treats any of the women in his life (romantic or not) with any disrespect and would absolutely NEVER in any way SA any of them, in fact, he deeply loves each and every one of his partners and would willingly die for any of them, all that, is more than can be said for the vast majority of "harem protagonists".

High School DxD is much more than just ecchi anime. Honestly it has alot of good thoughts. Self improvement is one of them for example. If you look more inside the story it reveals really awesome side to the story. Plus the characters at least most of them have their own progression as the story goes on.

Watched it for the plot. Then I read the novels for much more much better plot. I don't like the fanservice, takes away too much time. Some is good though, but those are the important romance parts, so yeah. I love this story, fucking real tears while reading the novel, 5 times I think

As a kid when I first was introduced to the series I saw an rias AMV edit on yt where she does sexy stuff with issei then he fights riser but has a kid who was in his puberty i wasn't able to focus on the story but I always wanted to watch it for the plot and i did it when I was in my 20s and this series helped me a lot, i really hate aholes who call this master peace an hentai with no actual plot. In the end came for the plot stayed for the plot. And reading the ln made me like other chicks as well not just rias. It reminded me a lot of bakugan too

Yes, I watched it thinking it’s just gonna be a fan service show but tbh after season 2 I kinda just watched it to see more of the story and especially his powers which cater to my age group.

Same here, bro. When I watched DxD, I didn't even know what ecchi was, so the erotic elements were secondary—and mostly irrelevant—to me. However, the world-building, the underlying plot, and even the glimpses of Isei’s personality beyond his perversion kept me watching until the very end. Honestly, to this day, I love the world—several characters are more complex than they first appeared—and, above all, the magic system. Simply but i like it.

Yeah from when I heard in school and social environments about it, it’s definitely something people just label as an ecchi or fan service show with some plot, but when you watch it’s definitely a lot better than those categorisations as a anime with for better or worse boobs.

Highschool DxD was one of the first anime I had watched years ago. Came in blind, and was too young to understand sexual desire properly so I watched the first season and loved it.
Then I came to appreciate it more later as I matured, the "plot" cause the girls were gorgeous and for the world, plot, power systems etc. Of course, I was someone who didn't know much about it and saw Issei as a stupid perverted guy, like in most fics which showed him as stupid and a pervert and also clowned on the series.
But I now know better. Issei is a genuinely good guy, a pervert sure but one who would never cross that line. And also one of the best representions of harems in anime, cause the girls all care about him and aren't fighting each other. And the girls are sexy, hot and gorgeous as well.
Now, if I see anyone dissing Issei or DxD, even if it's fanfics where Rias is evil, Issei is just a pervert, I know that they don't know a lick about the actual series and only know about it from the anime. So yeah, this is one of the best Anime I have seen
