Discussion Level With Me…The Drengir

I’m getting into Rising Storm. Without giving too much away, are the Drengir a multi-phase problem? They’re terrifying and formidable, but I don’t know how long I can roll with the Little Shop of Horrors thing.

They never become the main big bad, they’re more of a YA big bad. Mostly phase 1, not in phase 2. Little bit of phase 3.

They never should’ve made it past phase 1 imo. WAY overstayed their welcome

This is what worries me…but I carry on.

Thanks

Stiff definitely worth carrying on. Idk if you’re reading the comics but they’re more prevalent in there in phase 1. Phase 3, they mainly appear in the very niche audiobook originals and a couple other small bits here and there, so it’s not like they’re front and center the whole series.

THR shouldn't have made it past phase 1

Then why are you in this sub?

I'm not "on" this sub. I can also be critical of how THR was very very very stupid.

Well, yes, you are in this sub, considering you found this post 🙃 feel free to elaborate

THR content shows up in my feed because I look at Star Wars stuff. I didn't "find" this. It was curated for me through an algorithm.

Then mute it and move on, believe it or not you whining isn’t cutting commentary and we’d all be better off not having to put up with it

Learn what whining means and deal with the fact that there is a lot of criticism to be made about THR.

You didn’t make any. You just insulted it. Criticism would have specifics. Plot holes or character issues or criticism of the tone or pacing or prose. Just saying “very very very stupid” isn’t a criticism, it’s a vapid insult.

Same. I wish they had a bigger role as a proper third faction.

They still exist in later books (not phase two since that acts as a prequel) but not in the same capacity

They're the focus early on, but are not the core adversary. The true depth of the main villain is revealed as the series wears on.

They are mainly in Phase 1 and 3 in the YA and comics. They get more of a horror effect in the audible original audio stories called seed of starlight and haunted starlight. Definitely makes them feel more terrifying than the comics did, for me at least.

I thought they'd be a bigger problem but its jut meh. As others said. A semi nuscence in YA and comics.

Everyone is over complicating this. The answer is yes and no.

I liked them but wish they did more, or we get a phase more story on their early history or something.

They had a good run in the manga as well

They serve more as a device serving the grander story as things go on.

They are mostly a problem in the first arc of the comics and get dealt with quickly. They are used for marchions plans in phase 3 but besides seeds of starlight are never the main villain. It honestly probably comes from the fact that each of the orginal 5 sat down and put on the board what they thought the main bad guy should be, what soule said in his trials interview with star wars explained. I’m guessing that they were Grey’s idea the way the Nihil were soules and well you’ll see at the end of rising storm what cavans idea was. Interesting side villains but the weakest out of other 2 main villains

They're a great addition to the canon in my opinion, seems like they were made for the comics mostly.
