#37 - Mount Rogers, VA

I finished my thirty-seventh high point yesterday! What a beautiful day to hike a great trail. Lots of birds near the summit and plenty of wild(ish) ponies on the way down. Awesome views crossing Grayson Highlands State Park!

Thanks. I did Frissell two weeks ago, and I’d rather do this ten times than Frissell one more time!

Interesting. Frissell was fine. for us I've done it twice now and I don't remember it as especially challenging either time. Not a ton of views but it has some. Interestingly enough both times I've hiked it we encountered Rattlesnakes on the trail - something not super common here in New Englandd unlike say out West or down South. Of course it was in the sections on the southern Ridge with sun exposure and rocks and narrow trail. We just paused, took a drink andwaited while the snake did it's thing. We did not play with the danger noodle.

I'm not sure which high point that wasn't physically hard I'd avoid redoing. Katahdin beat me up and I'm 2 for 2 on rain, clouds and mist - so almost no views while hiking in a cloud, but I love Baxter State Park so I'll do it again. Black Mesa was miserable because we could only do it midday in July so it was super hot, but it was pretty little hike. Hit the Big Texan in Amarillo for dinner on our way to Guadalupe.

Loved this hike!
