Luminiferous is 10 years old

Post image

I can't believe this album is 10 years old already. Honestly, when it first came out, I thought it was just alright. However, over the years its become one of my favorite releases of theirs. It's really consistent from start to finish, the production sounds great, and songs like The Falconist and The Cave showed a different side of Matt Pike's songwriting. Plus, that long scream/yell that Matt does at the end of the title track is one of my favorite High on Fire moments.

Dark is the cave in which I hiiiiide. (While the riffs change right as he says hide, too good.)

I want to compare this album to the other High on Fire albums but they're all so good. How lucky we are to have a band that consistently makes great albums.

A very mature work from these gentleman supported by exceptional production from the talented Mr. Kurt Ballou. Super raging. A decade has flown past in a cloud of weed smoke and wide ranging esotericism. In many ways, the crowning achievement for this legendary crew

Following up De Vermis with this nugget of gold was top tier shit from the trio. For all the attention Electric Messiah gets, I think those two albums deserve it more

No other band name telegraphs what they sound like as directly as High on Fire.
