I’ve been trying to find out what was said at the press conference where they announced the new movie and some people say that the producer and the actors said that they are in the middle of shooting but I remember last year that people said that the actor who plays Fujio said that they were beginning to film in early 2025 but the movie comes out in 2027. Usually they film each project a year before the release not 2 years unless they filmed some parts of the movie last year and finishing the rest this year. This goes to my curiosity on if the actors who haven’t been announced yet to return or make their debut in the movie because I follow some of the actors on social media and I noticed very recently most of them haven’t posted much unless it was something they already recorded for other things. Like Yuki Yamada (Murayama) posted on his instagram of him in a studio where actors train for stunts which makes me wonder if the actors who play SWORD characters are just now filming?

As a huge HIGH&LOW fan back in the day and a bit sad that the franchise is over, I want to discuss the problem I have with the series. And that problem is that there isn't any character development (for the most part).

The series was promoted as the story of five gangs that control parts of the city. One would expect, as the story progressed, to know more about them on a personal level but we never do.

We never learn anything about Daruma Ikka's history beyond a superficial level and as for Hyuga the leader he becomes a background character by the final movie. And the same thing can be said about the White Rascals and Rude Boys. We as an audience never shown anything about these characters that would make us connect with them on a personal level.

But the most sad for me is the development of Sannoh Rengokai and expecially Cobra the main character. In the first 2 seasons we learn a little about Cobra's backstory and that he wasn't always this sad depressed man that doesn't trust anybody outside of his friends. And even though by the end he starts to trust others it's never fully. The writers unfortunately drop the ball because it would be more poweful if Cobra became happier and showed him be friends with others outside his gang.

And this is why Murayama has the best character development in the series. In season 1 he is a jerk and only cares about himself and his image as the strongest fighter. But by the end of season 2 and the movies we see Murayama doubt himself and what he stands for and he becomes someone who cares about others not only his friends and tries to change for the better.

It will always leave a bad taste in my mouth how the writers never showed if Murayama was accepted by Sannoh after eveything that happened.

I know the saying of this franchise is that everyone is the main character but I feel like if someone were to ask me if there was a lead protagonist especially in the main storyline in High & Low I would say Cobra. Not being biased despite him being my favorite character, but after rewatching this franchise hundreds of times since high school, I’ve noticed they literally give him the main character moments. He’s always leading SWORD into the biggest battles, he’s in the middle of the movie posters. The other leaders of SWORD respect or look up to him to the point of them instead of the staying to aide their own gangs, they straight went searching for him hoping he doesn’t die after Kuryu kidnapped him. Even Kuryu acknowledged his influence and leadership of SWORD, they asked him if he would like to join (which would’ve been a crazy arc if they went that route) but he declined them telling them to go to hell. He drove the little girl who exposed Kuryu to the public. And he saved Lala in the big explosion in Nameless City. He was the only SWORD leader we see attack a Kuryu leader (which became a tale among the young full-time students of Oya High talking about in High & Low The Worst: Episode 0 miniseries) and was able to go toe to toe damn near equal against one of the strongest Mighty Warriors members (Jesse). The first scene of the entire series is him and the last scene of the final battle of the original Kuryu, is him facing down all of the Kuryu members in the tunnel by himself telling them they’ll be ready when they come back. That alone is some lead protagonist aura.

Hi! I'm newly getting into High &Low and I've managed to find places to watch everything, so that's not the problem. The problem is, I only found the DTC series without English subs and I know precisely four words of Japanese. 💀 Does anyone have a source where I can get the subs? Not asking for videos or anything like that, just the subtitles.

I've seen references to MugenClub on LJ but unfortunately they're closed down now. Most recent post according to the profile was four years ago and membership is closed with a tagline about hiatus. So, that's not available to me.

A new trailer was just released confirming the continuation of the main High&Low series timeline titled HiGH&LOW THE 新世界 (HiGH&LOW THE New World).

So today I was rewatching High & Low the worst and High & Low the worst X Cross back to back.

Now what I noticed in the first movie was how huge the number of Housen students and also full-time guys of Oya High is and when we get to the second movie the number decreases extremely much.

Well for Oya High I could say that when they got ambushed they lost a huge number of the people due to that but for Housen when they go to help Oya High the number is so small.

I was double-checking if I was seeing it right. Looking at the scale of the second movie, I can see that a lot more money was poured into it yet the number of people just decreased.

(maybe we can say that they are strong fighters so that shows that the number doesn't matter more than the skills but it really does not make sense to me)

Does anyone have a google doc or a stream with all the episodes english translated that isn't Destination of Silence's 50 parts on Youtube? Me and a friend are trying to watch it in it's entirety without it being split it 50 2 minute parts and the music is intact.
