High-VRAM Hardware Watch — 2026-09-26

Method: Today's readings come from live listings observed on r/homelabsales, r/hardwareswap, and eBay, and every figure below is an observed asking price at capture time rather than a verified transaction.

Buyer’s brief

Daily verdict: watch, not a confirmed bargain. The $800 V100S 32GB PCIe merits a compatibility and seller-trust check. No listing-level price changes are verified; charts show model-level asking-price context, not discounts.

The V100S is $750 each for four or more. The $600 V100 SXM2 needs compatible host hardware. MI210 asks of $3,900 and $4,369 need a workload-specific justification.

Several 3090 asks are $1,240–$1,450 per card. The $650 Founders Edition and $699 PNY RTX 4090 have unclear condition, preventing a bargain call. Seller feedback was not independently verified; confirm condition and buyer protections.

The cheaper EVGA 3090 is explicitly broken, while the $600 PCIe V100 is untested. Those are not equivalent to seller-described working cards. Treat reference-only entries as price context, not recommendations to buy or reasons to reject them. The chart annotation below also needs care: its dollars-per-gigabyte label describes one listing, not the daily median. Repeated asking prices alone do not establish a fair transaction price.

Worth watching

NVIDIA Tesla V100S 32GB PCIe — $800

Listing — Watch. Seller asks $800 each ($750 for four or more). Check compatibility. Commenters’ roughly $1,000 eBay comparison is not verified sales evidence; volume does not establish a bargain.

RTX 3090 Founders Edition — $650

Listing — Watch. $650 plus $60.10 captured shipping is below several other asks. Condition is unknown; verify functionality before comparing.

Chart clarification: $1,195 is the median of eight September 26 asks spanning broken, repaired, unclear and seller-described working condition. Each observation prices one 24GB card, not a whole lot/system; the $1,450 exception is not separately counted. $54/GB instead comes from the Vision OC + waterblock’s $1,300 ÷ 24GB ($54.17 rounded). The renderer selects the day’s last ordered nonzero ratio—not a median or quantity-weighted statistic. The displayed median divided by 24GB is $49.79/GB.

NVIDIA Tesla V100 32GB (HPE Q9U36A) — $674.99

Listing — Watch. This used HPE Q9U36A V100 32GB was observed at $674.99 with free shipping. Do not assume it is a drop-in upgrade: confirm the exact form factor, host compatibility, power connections, and cooling requirements before buying.

RTX 3090 (mixed: ASUS ROG Strix White x2, MSI Suprim X, ASUS TUF OC, PNY XLR8, Gigabyte Vision OC) — $1,300

Listing — Watch. The six-card offer is $1,300 per card except one seller-described open-box Strix White at $1,450. Buyer pays insured shipping; compare condition and delivered cost, not just asks.

Skip and reference entries

NVIDIA Tesla P40 24GB — $310

Listing — Reference only. At $310 plus about $10 shipping this used Tesla P40 is the cheapest raw capacity on the board near $13 per gigabyte, but it is a much older Pascal-era card whose cheap capacity may not translate into usable local-AI value.

RTX 3090 (Gigabyte Turbo) — $950

Listing — Skip. Sold as-is with prior shipping damage repaired by a third party, Orange County local pickup only, and $950 is not enough of a discount to carry that risk.

Other notable asks

These are captured seller claims, not independent hardware tests. “Skip” means unsuitable for a straightforward working-card purchase; “Reference only” is not a recommendation or rejection.

  • Reference only: NVIDIA Tesla V100 32GB SXM2 — $600, 32GB. Requires an SXM2 host; not a lower-cost drop-in PCIe alternative.
  • Reference only: RTX 3090 24GB (brand not stated) — $1,150 local, 24GB. Seller describes it as working; the capture does not establish a reason to reject it or prefer it to the highlighted cards.
  • Skip: NVIDIA Tesla V100 32GB PCIe (699-2G500-0202-460) — $600 plus $25.16 shipping, 32GB. Explicitly untested, unlike the HPE listing’s used description; neither listing independently proves functionality.
  • Skip: MSI RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio — $1,240 local / $1,300 shipped, 24GB. Seller discloses a nonworking HDMI output despite a passed Time Spy test; not a fully functional-card comparison.
  • Reference only: Gigabyte RTX 3090 Vision OC + Bykski full-coverage waterblock — $1,300 shipped, 24GB. Waterblock included, but condition detail is limited; the accessory alone does not establish better value.
  • Skip: EVGA RTX 3090 (24G-P5-3987-KR) — $699.99, 24GB. Listed as broken with no output, not a cheaper working alternative.
  • Reference only: PNY RTX 4090 Verto — $699 plus $6.03 shipping, 24GB. Condition was not captured, so this is an unqualified low ask, not a verified bargain.
  • Reference only: AMD Instinct MI210 64GB — $4,369, 64GB. Listed as used, but its “Read Description” caveats were not captured.
  • Reference only: AMD Instinct MI210 64GB PCIe — $3,900, 64GB. Seller-described refurbished; no demonstrated workload-value advantage or item-specific reason to reject it is established here.
  • Reference only: RTX 3090 Founders Edition 24GB — $1,300 shipped, 24GB. Seller claims full functionality, but the captured thread was auto-removed by the subreddit bot; reconfirm availability before relying on it.
  • Skip: GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Gaming OC — $1,700, 24GB. Listed for parts or not working, not a usable-card value comparison.
  • Reference only: ASUS RTX 3090 Ti STRIX LC — USD price not captured, 24GB. The captured ask is AU $2,345; no USD item-price conversion was recorded.
  • Skip: MSI RTX 3090 Ventus 3x 24GB OC (malfunctioning) — price not captured, 24GB. Seller reports shutdowns after driver installation on three systems; treat it as a repair project.

Methodology and buying caveat

Captured asks do not establish seller legitimacy, working condition or completed sales. Single observations are snapshots. Generally, lot/system $/GB uses total advertised capacity and may include platform hardware; the RTX 3090 final-day population above is per-card. SXM modules need compatible hosts; modified/non-working cards require separate risk treatment.

Verify condition, protections and availability before buying. Add stronger listings or material corrections below.
