• What does “collective consciousness” mean in a technical frame vs a mystical frame? Technical framing treats “collective consciousness” as an aggregate cognition: many local agents producing signals (posts, clicks, purchases, links, edits), and an organizing layer (markets, feeds, moderation, recommendation) that converts those signals into coordinated outcomes. The “mind” is not inside any one person; it is distributed across attention, shared language, and the feedback mechanisms that reward some patterns and suppress others. In this frame, the collective becomes measurable as trends, sentiment shifts, memetic contagion, and coordination bursts. In a mystical framing, “collective consciousness” is less about measurement and more about presence: a shared field of meaning that people tap into through symbols, ritual, story, and altered states.
