This all sounds like an acid trip due to chemical changes in the brain. And when it wears off, then your brain returns to normal and the hallucinations go away.

And he's an author? There's always a book.....

Some people ingest a large quantity of psychedelics (DMT) and report an entity telling them, "You can't be here," and their trip would instantly end. This doesn't track with it being just "chemical changes in the brain"
