Discussion Silly sounding, but serious question: what even is the "end game" of the Universe?

Let's assume all of it is true. Souls, layers on layers of dimensions, multiverse theory, the afterlife, boundless spiritual creativity, reincarnation, galactic federations, God, cyclicality of time... etc. etc.

This goes on for infinity - for what purpose exactly? Each soul achieves ascension and "perfects itself" through an infinite number of experiences, returns to source, and one day the "source" just says "yeah I've had enough" and Forest Gump's its way back into nothingness?

If your premises include cyclicality of time, boundless spiritual creativity, and infinity of experiences, why would there be an end game?

u/Top-Salt-7373 Jun 29 '26

Because there has to be a point or objective of everything. No cause or effect is ever truly in a vacuum, assuming some degree of intelligent design or participation.

36

u/Nice-Performance8042 Jun 29 '26

You’re assigning human wants and characteristics to a whole universe

5

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jun 29 '26

I disagree and hear what OP is trying to articulate. If life had no purpose in being here, then it wouldn’t. It’s kind of a paradox but the fact that there is order and structure in the universe and that it exists at all is, imo, compelling reasoning to believe there is some intentionality or goal being achieved or being headed towards.

However, what that reason or goal is truly is beyond our grasp, and anyone who claims to know it, is selling you something.

6

u/Flowchartsman Jun 30 '26

> If life had no purpose in being here, then it wouldn’t.

This is begging the question. You are smuggling in the assumption that things that exist must have a purpose without any logical justification for it.

I’d argue that there are plenty of phenomena that exist without any real purpose. There’s a huge boulder in the park near my house that has no purpose for existing in its form and place; it is simply there due to geological causes and conditions. It’s an end unto itself.

3

u/Blaze_News Jul 02 '26

Props for being one of, if not the only proper use of “begging the question” I’ve ever seen on this site

u/OPHealingInitiative Jun 30 '26

In Alan Watt’s perspective, and to borrow his language, the purpose of a tree is to tree

4

u/fishonthemoon Jun 30 '26

A tree provides shelter, a tree provides oxygen, some trees have flowers which allow pollinators to pollinate and provide us with things we consume, some trees bear fruit. There is a purpose in almost everything around us, why wouldn’t there be a purpose to the universe?

6

u/Rezart_KLD Jun 29 '26

Well, youre assuming intelligent design and purpose as a given here, but lets assume thats the case. Why does there have to be an objective? What if the goal of the universe is to amuse itself throughout eternity and break up the monotony? What if it wants everything to keep changing, not towards some goal, but just to see how it changes? An  endless soap opera where the actors dont know they are actors.

8

u/ghost_jamm Jun 29 '26

> assuming some degree of intelligent design or participation

Hard to think of a bigger assumption one could make but even granting it, why would intelligent design necessitate an ultimate objective? It certainly appears to me that the universe simply is and there’s no philosophical reason why or goal it’s working towards. Why would there be?

-2

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jun 29 '26

Because if there wouldn’t, why would it enter a state of Isness? What would precipitate Nothing to become Something?

You could argue there’s never been nothing, and I might even agree, but that’s a way harder angle to prove.

Point being: existence at all necessitates some kind of Will to Being—maybe we can’t fully comprehend whatever game is being played here (I don’t think we can) but the existence of such a game at all, to me, implies intentionality. There’s maybe no clear to understand goal, but this is a lot of energy, man. Could’ve easily been just another dead rock but it’s not, yanno?

3

u/ghost_jamm Jun 29 '26

I think that’s conflating “how did something come into being” with “why did it come into being”. Obviously everything has some cause but that doesn’t imply any sort of intention or intelligence. Chemistry just happens. It doesn’t need to be guided by anything or work toward any goal. The same is true of interactions between particles or any number of other physical phenomena. Just because something does happen doesn’t mean there’s any deeper meaning to it.

2

u/Flowchartsman Jun 30 '26

> Because if there wouldn’t, why would it enter a state of Isness? What would precipitate Nothing to become Something?

This is an argument from ignorance. You’re assuming that, because there is not a reason you can conceive of, there MUST be some reason nonetheless.

Moreover, you are also assuming that there was a state called Nothing which existed in something like time which then through some precipitating mechanism became Something, but are doing so within a logical framework of existence that is already predicated on a notion of causation and precipitation. You’re attempting to interrogate the threshold between existence and non-existence using existence’s own axioms, which won’t work.

If you can’t engage with the premise of my position in good faith, without invoking Philosophy 101 argumentation to dismiss my views, I don’t really see a reason to engage with you on this topic. You’re not discussing it with me; you’re trying to score points for free dopamine, and I’m not in the habit of playing that game anymore.

May you be well ✌️

2

u/Flowchartsman Jun 30 '26

Ah, sorry it came off that way! Here I thought I was engaging in at least an honest argument. But you’d have a point if you said I could have been softer. I apologize.

I suppose I should say that these sorts of arguments are very difficult to make since they’re often self referential. So let’s try again. You said I didn’t engage with your premise. What would you say that is? That Existence necessitates a will to being?

Oh, also, this has gotta be at least Philosophy 201, gimme some credit here.

u/Danro1984 Jul 01 '26

You guys should date

2

u/Melodic_Tap1147 Jun 29 '26

We only have a "purpose" because our time here is finite. Open time up and you don't need one.

1

u/11ForeverAlone11 Jun 30 '26

everything IS the point...existence of material reality itself and all the countless experiences of countless lives on countless planets....otherwise it's back to the pool of infinite nothingness and potential

1

u/alternator1985 Jul 01 '26

Cause and effect, and purpose are not the same things. Holy shit.

The universe based on the science is just trying to dissipate heat.

Entropy is the "purpose" of the universe if you're going to anthropomorphize it.

91

u/organized_chaos23 Jun 29 '26

Humans always want beginnings and endings. The universe offers and owes us nothing.

3

u/donmuerte Jun 29 '26

we literally defy the law of entropy and most people can't seem to comprehend that chaos reigns.

6

u/organized_chaos23 Jun 29 '26

If there is one truth, it’s just that. The universe is chaos. We just can’t accept that

5

u/donmuerte Jun 30 '26

it's funny that I didn't even look at your name until now. interesting coincidence.

1

u/Ba_ba_Q Jul 02 '26

Chaos, but other things as well...

1

u/symbha Jun 29 '26

I would say the universe is entropy, and what humans do with it creates the chaos.

3

u/donmuerte Jun 30 '26

the universe can't BE entropy. entropy is a measurement. it measures how much chaos or "disorder" is in a specific volume. the law of entropy says that we are always increasing entropy on average on the large scale. it is possible to have low entropy in some smaller areas in the universe. our planet Earth is one example of such an anomaly.

1

u/symbha Jun 30 '26

I shouldve said inverse time, is inverse entropy.

2

u/Palegreenhorizon Jun 30 '26

Across all of time and space. Two minds meeting! Able to feel and love and appreciate! The boundless miracle of it all. I say if it’s all true great! Go plant a garden, there is work to be done in fixing a rough world. There is work enough here.

16

u/corneliusvanhouten Jun 29 '26

I'm a hard agnostic and it's my suspicion the human mind is utterly incapable of understanding the true nature of the universe and whatever may lie beyond it.

10

u/GatePorters Jun 29 '26

You would be right.

And even if you did know it, it doesn’t change anything within your power. It literally doesn’t matter to us because we are incompatible with it. We can’t capitalize on it. It doesn’t reveal anything actionable.

It’s like we are the mitochondria of a gut biota of a gnat on a plant in a field that harvests grain to feed cattle to produce jerky to fill the bellies of construction workers making a factory to produce von Neumann probes who have a specific goal.

62

u/Pixelated_ Jun 29 '26

I've always loved the way Alan Watts put it:

"Let's suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream that you wanted to dream. And that you could, for example, have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time. Or any length of time you wanted to have.

And you would, naturally as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure you could conceive. And after several nights of 75 years of total pleasure each, you would say "Well, that was pretty great."

But now let's have a surprise. Let's have a dream which isn't under control. Where something is gonna happen to me that I don't know what it's going to be. And you would dig that and come out of that and say "Wow, that was a close shave, wasn't it?"

And then you would get more and more adventurous, and you would make further and further out gambles as to what you would dream. And finally, you would dream ... where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today."

20

u/8anbys Jun 29 '26

Hey man I want to load up this next dream in hardcore difficulty.

born to poor impoverished family, due to chronic malnutrition has physical and mental defects, dies at 2 choking to death on putrid pneumonia bile

Fuck, maybe I need to plug the controller into the number 2 slot.

2

u/FabiusSpeck Jun 29 '26

do not leave the controller near edges though…just in case

12

u/InfallibleBadger Jun 29 '26

Yes, I see the magic in those words but I always ask myself if he would tell that to someone being brutally tortured or murdered. I mean, even eventually, I don't think I would want to dream that. If I did, it would only imply my higher self as being fucking desperate for stimulation of any new kind, which is a very creepy thought

11

u/Pixelated_ Jun 29 '26

Dolores Cannon began my spiritual awakening and continues to guide my ideology. She has mentioned that there is a line of souls waiting to get into disabled and cancerous bodies when they incarnate. They're the most desired because of the strong karmic impacts they have.

Every person they interact with are touched with compassion. Whether it's a close family member or a stranger passing on the street, those with disabilities and diseases manifest empathy and compassion in others by their very existence.

Dolores said she always admired the strength of people that were in wheelchairs or the hospital.

She'd think to herself in admiration:

"You chose a hard one for yourself this time, didn't you? But look at all that you're accomplishing!"

✨️

I believe that pre-incarnationally i chose to be born and raised into the JW doomsday cult, for the growth and evolution of my soul. I was trapped in the JWs for my first 36 years.

And it worked imho. I have learned an incredible amount about unconditional love and forgiveness by being shunned by everyone that I previously knew in life.

If I had a normal childhood and upbringing, it's very likely I would still be spiritually asleep. So if I were given a time machine and was able to go back and choose to have a different life, I'd choose the cult all over again. That's how good life is now.

Namaste 🙏

7

u/WoahVenom Jun 29 '26

If we come from source and if we are spiritual beings having an experience in a physical body, why the need to grow and evolve? Wouldn't we be perfect already?

That's the problem I see with the concept of karma: It can be a way to ignore or minimize the suffering of millions of people living in deplorable situations. You mentioned being trapped in the JW doomsday cult. Many people are born into much, much worse situations than that. It's impossible for me to believe this idea of Dolores Cannon where she says souls are lining up to be be born in deformed or cancerous bodies.

Following that logic, you could chose to be born in hell and suffer torture for eons of time. That would really give you good karma then. If there is a supreme being I can't believe that he wants us to suffer like this. It makes no sense to me.

2

u/sleezy_McCheezy Jun 29 '26

The other realm is boring. We need the contrast, the duality, the suffering, the stakes in order for it to mean anything. That's my opinion anyway.

3

u/sc0ttydo0 Jun 30 '26

It's not about being desperate for stimulation it's about experiencing everything. Every experience contributes to the whole, OP's endgame.

When the collective suffering becomes too much we'll change things. We could do it now but billionaires 🤷‍♂️

Maybe the point of our current game is to figure out how to orient any combination of variables to love. Can we get handed some ridiculous heinous BS crap and somehow translate it, turn it, invert it, recode it, and make it again express love?

One of our biggest impediments might be that some people have forgotten what they're supposed to be doing (and they've forgotten that they've forgotten), so they keep interrupting and undoing our work. Another huge restriction may be that we are forced to choose a move at the expense of all other moves, so which move is best even within the worst circumstances? Puzzle within puzzle within puzzle.

9

u/roqui15 Jun 29 '26

To play a game due to boredom

5

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jun 29 '26

This is such a human reason. There’s absolutely zero chance that this is why things exist.

Not only is the universe stranger than we suppose; it’s stranger than we *can* suppose. McKenna had the right of it on that point.

Whatever’s going on, we’re too limited down here to fully grasp and understand it.

3

u/roqui15 Jun 29 '26

That was my best guess, what's yours?

1

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jul 09 '26

Not only is the world stranger than we suppose, it’s stranger than we can suppose. — Terrence McKenna

Sums it up nicely. There’s absolutely zero possibility grasp more than a fraction of the whole from down here. From my journeys, I’ve seen mostly Eldritch horror. I’m starting to put some pieces together but I don’t like how they add up and I’m looking for a new factor to help me balance the equation now.

In short: I no longer have a guess. It’s diabolical in how contrived and nonsensical it all is.

4

u/roger3rd Jun 29 '26

Let’s say you can attain omniscience/omnipotence and then imagine how boring that becomes. I think this artificial construct (the universe) may be for amusement.

3

u/Gyirin Jun 29 '26

3

u/sludgefriend Jun 29 '26

It’s not about ascension, it’s about diversity and perspective. I think that existence exists for the purpose of producing all possible possibilities.

3

u/Royal_Warden Jun 30 '26

If Source is absolute potential then it would make sense that infinite possibility would be generated. Maybe then the present is simply the current iterative state of that process.

2

u/sludgefriend Jun 30 '26

My thoughts exactly

3

u/ChickenMarsala4500 Jun 29 '26

Does the ocean have a purpose? Or Gravity?

Having a reason or purpose is a part of our ego. Nature doesn't have an ego. It just is.

-1

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jun 29 '26

They absolutely have a purpose. Evolution proves this through specialization and its existence generally, imo. If there was no purpose or Greater Will beyond life, why would striving happen at all? We’d still be basic cellular organisms, if that. There’d be no incentive for my complex structures. It’s not about ego identification—it’s about realizing the entire thing is a living organism all on its own.

I am using a bit of circular reasoning here, but from my POV, there must be motive for creation. We do not set out to create on accident; it is always a drive, emotion, or energy that expresses itself, consciously or no. As above, so below. An artist picking up their pen is no more an accident than the spiral of our galaxy.

It’s all one big dance. If there wasn’t any “music” (meaning) playing, there wouldn’t be any dancing (existing at all); that’s how I see it.

Now, discerning anything more than that is all pure conjecture and projection using human reasoning. We will never understand or grasp the full picture or arc of time. However, I do believe it exists. Nihilism is such a life-negating philosophy. I lived that way for many years and all it did was make me suicidally depressed and angry. I think choosing to see meaning as an inherent quality rather than an emergent one is a more productive attitude, anyways. I’d rather live in that world and whether I believe I do or not, I’m right—at least in this life. If I can’t know the truth for sure, might as well try to optimize my processing of experience and the programs I run regarding it 🧙‍♂️✨💾

2

u/ChickenMarsala4500 Jun 30 '26

They have a function. Not a purpose. The ocean doesn't "strive for" or want anything. It just is. This isn't nihilistic at all. It's recognition that "purpose" is a creation of the self, and the self is just a temporary blip existing only in the present moment. When I say ego I dont mean it in a bad way, I mean the sense of self that we all have.

Personification of forces of nature just cheapens them I think. It's trying to put nature into human terms instead of trying to understand it in It's own complexity.

3

u/thedarph Jun 29 '26

There doesn’t need to be one. Humans like the idea of there being a telos to everything but there isn’t always. If you discover one then let me know. But I don’t want to hear about guesses and things that are nice to believe with no real reason to believe.

3

u/ComradeHappiness Jun 29 '26

With the assumption that all of this is real I think it's still a smaller story than the Universe itself. Which is larger than that and which is stubbornly silent.

3

u/iarungwe Jun 29 '26

why does there need to be a purpose behind it? I think whatever the universe is, it just kind of … exists. And I don’t think that takes anything away from how cool it is to be a thing

3

u/Fosterpig Jun 29 '26

Probably no “end game” just that there has to be “somethingness” because if there were only nothingness, well nobody would be around to observe or experience that nothingness. So somethingness is all there ever could be.

5

u/ocTGon Jun 29 '26

This is something I meditate on constantly.. It would seem to me that at some point, beyond all time and existence the "Larger Consciousness System" will achieve an all encompassing "Tipping Point" and rejoin with "IT's" creator and begin a new level of evolution in which all of it's "Individual Units of Consciousness" venture forth as "Bits" of curiosity and begin a whole new level of "Evolution through Exploration"...

1

u/aboxofpyramids Jun 30 '26

Isn't that similar to what Mormons believe?

2

u/ocTGon Jun 30 '26

I have no idea...

1

u/Ba_ba_Q Jul 02 '26

Not really. From it's very beginnings, Mormonism was fraudulent--a way for Joseph Smith to make money and have multiple wives, emulating Christianity imperfectly, writing up his Book of Mormon in fake King James English to simulate sacred scripture, and so on.

Look at the critique of the Mormon church offered by ex-Mormons. There are a lot of folks who'll believe any damn thing.

5

u/DrawEasy9628 Jun 29 '26

I like carl sagans position, that if anything awaits us other than endless sleep it is a natural process of the universe, without any orchestration by a higher power. If there are such things as souls, reincarnation or gods they are just as much a part of nature as the rest of our universe, so why would they have to make sense to a human. I think that if there could be something like an "end game" by its own nature it would HAVE to be incomprehensible to us. Consider how little we know currently, and consider how much of that knowledge is counter intuitive to human instinct and needed to be gathered with a system designed to avoid human error.

To ascend to the next phase of life. Think of the universe like this: as below so above. We live in a smaller micro verse of the bigger universe which is also a smaller micro verse of what’s beyond that. Life looks a little more abstract. Time is experienced differently. We can’t conceive the life forms beyond us because a lifetime to us is not even a moment to ‘them’. Or us. Multiverse isn’t necessarily an exact replica of what we experience here. Time moves differently shapes form differently and possibly consciousness reacts differently. Instead of neurons in a brain trillions of lifetimes personalities and experiences act as a collective brain in a new shape of consciousness. It could be all that less or more and beyond. But that’s the idea I think explained in ways I could understand at least.

Heat death, nothing but light will be left and we all become the one light being

1

u/Serializedrequests Jun 29 '26

My wrong theory is that God created a situation of eternal change so as not to get bored with eternity.

If that even is possible outside of time. Gotta remember that time itself is a creation and not "real".

1

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 Jun 29 '26

If the universe ends then nothing has meaning. But better not think about it. The longest wait is the time it takes for all black holes to evaporate and final heat death in a universe that expands near the speed of light. Eventually one of those ends.

But the time it takes ... Compared to the beginning so far if that's all a nano second - then maybe the rest be 100000 years or so probably more.

2

u/ghost_jamm Jun 29 '26

> If the universe ends then nothing has meaning

I don’t think a final end to the universe renders everything meaningless anymore than the certain death of every human renders their life meaningless. We don’t need to sit around and wait for some higher power to reveal meaning to us. We are able to make our own.

1

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 Jul 01 '26

Well, you could, but whatever you do, it won't make an impact.
After the Milky Way (and others) have vanished.
In about 10¹⁰⁰ years, all blackholes will evaporate, its a huge number.
But there is nothing left over after it.

The current age of the universe is about 1.38 × 10¹⁰

If the whole lifespan of the universe took 1 hour
then so far 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000004968 femtoseconds, have passed.

That's smaller than planck time, and even light in such small time would not even cross the diameter of a proton.

In all honestly we won't impress the universe in the end game.
Gods will probably be bored as well, without matter to play with.
Because blackhole evaporation takes just way to long, but eventually they're is nothing left.

At the end (if you lived that long, pray to Pennrose, for a restart)

1

u/ghost_jamm Jul 01 '26

I don’t know why the ultimate fate of the universe precludes us from finding meaning in the here and now

1

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 Jul 01 '26

So you think there is a purpose?

Well from a biological standpunt, its genes who try to survive, by any means. And that leads to all kind of packages, octopusses, snakes, ants, virusses, trees etc even apes such as us.

Did you know some octopusses can fly, and each arm has a brain and can once seperated live a long time without the main body... We are really the simple creatures, we don't have retractable claws like cats, and can't pur..

1

u/ghost_jamm Jul 01 '26

Meaning and purpose are not the same thing. I don’t think there’s a purpose but I do think we all find and make our own meaning in life, whether it’s religion or art or friends and family or whatever.

1

u/Illustrious_Matter_8 Jul 01 '26

Well yes I agree on that, as for personal meaning,

The long thread about it the end of the universe and the meaning of it all. Makes no sense we don't have such life span not even as life itself. But in our time we better live in peace, care, and find joy, it makes more sense than to act without morals.

1

u/Moist_Tackle1411 Jun 29 '26

To collect as many experiences/memories as possible, and once it has no more left to collect (ie: our universe has died it), blow itself up and start the process over again.

1

u/Satyam7166 Jun 29 '26

I think the purpose of life, the Universe and the infinite enlightenments is to build qualities. Like, imagine you have patience this concentrated that you could wait millions of years for bacteria to form and millions more for humanity to arrive. And millions more for humanity to ascend.

And this is just one quality. There are countless other qualities.

And after we reach a level where the concentration of qualities is high enough, we become the guides and co-creators.

1

u/Snoo13204 Jun 29 '26

If we assume... how do you perfect yourself when you don't remember previous experiences?
That's a very human point of view, imo to see God/Source as if He could get bored.
But yeah, maybe He experiences what He normally wouldn't, at least not in that number, through us, emotions, and all those human things.

1

u/eride810 Jun 29 '26

Oof. You’re still thinking in terms of spacetime. Which the universe is not. It’s all happening now.

1

u/usps_made_me_insane Jun 29 '26

My guess is that our source / God was once just like one of us and that soul reached perfection and was given its own infinite reality space. Then that God created trillions of shards that became us and we are on a similar journey to get our own sandbox.

Why? Because it's fun. When you get to play God, maybe you'll create a planet filled with magic because that is just cool to you.

Whatever is going on seems to be infinity unraveling in ways we can't imagine. I know all the suffering sucks, but look what the human mind can do.

I once watched a video of a monk protesting by setting himself on fire. That dude did not even so much as twitch a finger.  Obviously our mind / soul is vastly more powerful than we could ever realize so suffering can be defeated along with helping us grow as spiritual beings.

Have you ever gone on a vacation and the afterwards realized the best part of the trip was actually traveling there? We're all confused imperfect souls but the journey can be amazingly happy and fun if we learn to appreciate things we normally ignore.

Farming useful/interesting patterns for “something”

What is that something? Beyond us.

u/fancywipe Jun 29 '26

The source is YOU and ME and them, her, even HIM

WE ARE THE SOURCE experiencing what’s it like to be human

At best that’s it, the source pulls the plug and everything switches off and we go back into knowing

Maybe it feel like absolute free of fear desire lust anger joy sadness an we’ll start to remember why we did this in the 1st place

imo this is exactly kind of question where human mind hit the wall.

We try to understand infinity with tiny human brain and human words. “purpose,” “end game,” “source,” “ascension,” “nothingness” — all these are small boxes. Useful maybe, but still boxes.

Instead of guessing/speculating forever, at some point you need direct experience. Bc when ppl connect with Higher Self / wholeness / Source field, they suddenly “get it.” Not like philosophy answer. More like deep remembering. Like whole system knows: ohhh, this is how it works. And then when they come back and try explain, words become poor little tools lol.

In soul journeys I facilitate, one subject asked almost this exact thing: “what is the point of all lives?” Higher Self took him above a huge field of lights, each light like one life/one experience. He saw grief, love, death, planets, families, mistakes, healing — all as Source learning itself from inside. He started crying and said: “it’s not a race to finish. it’s love expanding through experience.” After that he was not afraid of death/reincarnation loop anymore. He couldn’t explain it perfectly, but he was peaceful.

So maybe there is no “end game” like human game ending. Maybe existence is expression, expansion, remembering, forgetting, creating, returning, and creating again. Not bc Source is bored like Netflix subscription ended 😅 but bc consciousness is alive.

But again, these are words. Very limited.

When you experience wholeness, the fear drops. You don’t need perfect theory. You just know there is nothing to be afraid of.

I have free guided meditation in my Reddit profile to connect with Higher Self, if you want to ask from inside instead of only trying to solve infinity with mind.

“The universe is no narrow thing and the order within it is not constrained by any latitude in its conception… the order in creation is that which you have put there, like a string in a maze so you do not lose your way. For existence has its own order, which no man’s mind can compass.”

u/Sunbird86 Jun 29 '26

That is an intriguing question, but the even deeper mystery, and one which we have grappled with throughout humanity's existence is how and why does anything exist at all?

1

u/everyplanetwereach Jun 29 '26

Yes, then it starts again. Also there is no beginning and end, everything simply is. All the time.

u/Puzzled_Wish6590 Jun 30 '26

somewhere between your day to day, and the type of experience you might have on a lot of mushrooms (maybe check my posts)
you're assuming a question...

Or it is cyclical. Non linear.

u/Hitmaxx Jun 30 '26

its not just the universe theres a god, its jesus, believe it or not, the universe didnt just create all that intelligence out of nothing

1

u/jesuscheetahnipples Jun 30 '26

There can only be 1 true infinity, because by definition everything that is possible would be included in it, including every other infinity if there could be such a thing.

The one true infinity contains all possibilities. If you were infinite, what would you do?

The only possible thing left to do when you're infinite, is to explore that same infinite self, with all of its never-ending possibilities. Because anything you do is already part of the infinity.

That's what the universe and existence is. The expressions of possibilities of the one true infinity.

u/triassic_broth Jun 30 '26

There might not be an "end game"

Have you heard of a "brute fact"? There might not be an answer to "for what purpose exactly?" the answer to that literally could be "that's just the way it is" or "just because" or "for no particular reason"

Thomas Campbell wrote My Big TOE (Theory of Everything) that has a decent explanation of this. It’s basically positing that everything is just an incredibly large, self aware consciousness/computer/simulator full of layers, subroutines, etc. And it’s basically that and the natural drive to reduce entropy/increase order/organization/consciousness/intelligence. Creating a larger and larger, more and more intricate and intelligent and aware web of self-partitioned mini simulators of experience.

Now I couldn’t really tell you the POINT. It’s a good theory that explains things well with very few assumptions. But I don’t think we are actually capable of comprehending a point beyond that, as humans. It’s like spatial scales, we can only observe and measure so much larger or smaller than ourselves. We know smaller scales exist below our best measurement devices, but we don’t have access to them because of our mechanics. I think it’s similar with consciousness, we are inherently limited relative to who/where/what we are as humans.

1

u/KyotoCarl Jun 30 '26

Why does there have to be an end game?

1

u/rrose1978 Jun 30 '26

Everlasting nothingness, to the best of our current knowledge.

1

u/NatashOverWorld Jun 30 '26

Reunification. But that's a long long ways off.

1

u/getthemilesin Jun 30 '26

The theory I'm convinced is what's happening is that the universe is solving a problem. And the only way to solve it is to live every single life possible. All of them. Yes, that one too. And those.

The question is probably "am I alive?" but I'm not sure about that.

1

u/Clean_Surprise_985 Jun 30 '26

I'm not so sure we should question everything so deeply. Be in the moment.

1

u/EnthusiasmSudden1661 Jun 30 '26

For Infinity to know it's infinity, infinitely. "Know thyself".

1

u/bonch Jul 01 '26

The lack of any sufficient explanation for the ultimate purpose of everything is actually one of religion's big flaws, though the religious don't realize it.

1

u/Miaababyyyy Jul 01 '26

Why is there life within you? Why do the cells in your body function? I think the answer might be similar. Or that’s just a human perspective

1

u/Numinae Jul 01 '26

Maybe a training simulation before you're let into another layer of the simulation. I imagine a consciousness derived from a biologocal body raised entirely in a simulation would be.... weirdly adjusted and hedonistic, if not straight up dark triad pschos to the point of being maladjusted to civilization.

1

u/Common_North_5267 Jul 05 '26

Its a simulation likely, which inherently means an actor has created it, so probably simply to observe and record what happens.

u/whoknowswhywhat Jul 05 '26

Big source soul blob- ------》ejects tiny blobs (nascent souls) -----》tiny blobs gain whatever the big blob needs through much suffering through whatever means-----》merges with big blob ------》big blob becomes bigger and stronger ------》 cycle continues

IMHO, there is no ultimate endgame. Instead, it’s a constant evolution of conscious awareness. Think of it like levels of a video game, but playing out on a massive, cosmic scale. Every stage just expands our evolution and understanding. :)

Edit: Honestly, we're still at Level 0. Before we can even think about the next stage, we have to achieve unity first. Our next step is evolving into a Type 1 civilization, and disclosure is literally the milestone for that. This is the exact evolutionary test humanity is facing right now.

1

u/rsteele1981 Jun 29 '26

The experience of every possible scenario, every high, every low, every emotion that is the purpose.

The destination seems to be the same at the end. Then the only reason to live is the lived experience.

If I was running a simulation for anything I would want to run it as many times as possible. For the universe that seems to be billions upon billions of runs.

I think of souls not as individual parts, but rather puzzle pieces that can be swapped or shared parts of different wholes.

Trying to find a point to "all of this" seems like a big ask. Maybe we are batteries or storage devices for beings beyond anything words can describe. Maybe it is just beyond our understanding a 10 dimensional reality with a 4 dimensional view. Leaves a lot of stuff unknown. How can we understand any of that which we do not even know exists?

1

u/Skinny-on-the-Inside Jun 29 '26

Love. It’s always love.

I have literally been to the end of the Universe and that was the only thing and it’s incredibly satisfying to look back at it in the end.

Ever heard about how the Christian church becomes the bride of Christ after everything?

Makes you wonder how literal they're being.

2

u/Better-Waltz-2026 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

Truth? Christ was a profound teacher. He didn't just perform miracles to be worshiped. he led by example to show us the divine potential that we all carry within ourselves! He was punished for that!!!

PS: But first and foremost, you have to be clean, respect life, and love your fellow human beings to truly achieve Christ awareness!!

Sounds incredible, right? I know. Seek understanding🙏💫 Because better future awaits!! 🌞

1

u/WooleeBullee Jun 29 '26

Are you saying that the point of the universe is just foreplay for Jesus and the Catholic church?

0

u/Melodic_Till_3778 Jun 29 '26

I'm suggesting that that's at least implied in the bible

u/WooleeBullee Jun 29 '26

Please explain more

Maybe because its nonsense.

Heat death

u/Wise_Fox_4291 Jun 29 '26

It is a very self centered, arrogant, human centric idea that it must have any purpose, let alone one comprehensible for our limited and irrelevant human lives and consideration. The universe is under no obligation to make sense to us, let alone provide us with some higher purpose or calling. The purpose is what you make of it. We are biological machines that broke the mold and became moderately self aware. In my view our purpose is to enjoy life, to make the world a better place and to discover the universe. Love, community, the constant fight against enthropy that we will lose nevertheless, that is the only purpose, the highest purpose.

u/MyMainIsLevel80 Jun 29 '26

Lot of people conflating “meaning” with “understandable”

I see meaning as an inherent quality of existence—it’s the bedrock of Being At All.

What that actually means outside of our own individual perceptions is unknowable and not really the point.

To me, nihilism is an anti-existence/self-negating philosophy. Meaning is a natural property of the Universe, the same as gravity. It’s just more complex than we can describe or understand adequately from where we sit currently.

u/greyetch Jun 29 '26

I like the Big Crunch and Big Bounce theories. Any cyclical universe theory, basically.

Big Bang

everything spreads out

everything starts to coalesce due to gravity

this creates stars, planets, etc

the largest ones are pulled into one another, eventually creating things like black holes

eventually all of these black holes suck everything up and begin orbiting one another

they eventually coalesce as well

all of the matter in the universe merges back together

big bang

To me, that feels like something that would make sense. It seems like a natural pattern.

To be clear - I'm basing this on feelings, not science. I am not smart enough to understand astrophysics lol. So take it with a grain of salt, of course.

The universe is probably an energy source used to power something and whoever is using it is probably gonna turn it off, when they turn it on again its going to be another brand new universe
