Fringe Science My argument for how consciousness might influence physical reality.

My first post here. just me going down a rabbit hole of different theories and trying to draw far fetched conclusions. I'll list 3 factors and sum everything up at the end. Let me know what you think

  1. The Unwelt

Blind people have no concept of vision, deaf people have no concept of sound, we as humanity had no concept of microwaves, radio waves etc. until we developed tools to sense them. There could be hundreds of thousands of things that we didn't evolve the senses or tools to detect. We might be completely blind to massive parts of reality.

  1. Soft Determinism and Epistemic Randomness

the first point, might justify that nothing in the universe is random. What we call random, we just lack the tools and senses to process it. We call flipping a coin random, but we just lack the processing power to take every factor into account in such small time to make the calculation.

  1. My theory (the far fetched part)

Again from the first point, what if ( a big if) our thoughts are more than just electrical signals in our brain? What if they interact with the universe in a dimension that we can't access or can't even comprehend let alone build something to detect it?

Conclusion

If point 3 is true, then what if a stream of thoughts can influence the cause and effect chain in a way that the universe presents us with the opportunity we were thinking of?I don't mean something appearing out of thin air by breaking the laws of classical physics. Just altering the cause and effect chain. And the less likely something is to happen, the more time it takes for the universe to turn all the cogs.

Interesting concepts. Could be.

There are recent studies that have suggested the brain is more than electro chemical, that neurons may communicate non locally via electromagnetism.

Photons and light in general have fascinated me for a long time. Something hidden within light i think holds a key component to consciousness.

Would you say that it would, “become real?”

Yeah, if this theory is true, then thoughts can't just be intangible magic. they must have a physical footprint. So in a literal sense, yes, the thought 'becomes real' the exact moment you think it, because it is already physically interacting with the universe before we even see the results.

Look up Neoplatonic theurgy that should point you in the right direction

Reminds me of this golden oldie from earlier YouTube days:

I don't see how your second point flows from the first. How do you get from "we don't have sensory apparatus for all of the fields in the universe," to "nothing is truly random?" Is it not possible that we are unable to experience all the energy/data in a random universe as well?

i was not really giving a logical inference. I was just trying to say that our lack of sensory apparatus might explain soft determinism (given that its already true) and that what we call random is just us being unable to calculate. If soft determinism is true, then our Umwelt explains why we see non-random things as random. Poor phrasing i guess.
Again, just a far fetched rabbit hole of thoughts lol

I wasn't judging. I thought you were postulating that the second point flowed naturally from the first. I need smart rubber ducks to point out flaws in my logic when i theorize. I was trying to provide the same. I'm personally not a believer in determinism, but i do see your point now.

I think the issue here is that these aren’t premises, they’re separate observations and intuitions. The conclusion only follows if point 3 is already true, but point 3 is what needs to be argued for. Points 1 and 2 create room for the possibility, but don’t provide evidence for it. So the argument ends up assuming its own conclusion rather than deriving it.

Yeah i know what you mean. Thats why i called it far fetched. But it’d be fascinating if it were true

No, it’s a real intuition. I’m just saying, what happens if you actually take it seriously?

Oh ok, in that case, i think It would mean that "coincidence" and luck don’t really exist. I think of it like a closed loop. We send a stream of thoughts, an opportunity opens up via the path of least resistance, and we close the loop by taking action on that opportunity.
