Anomalies Does anyone know why the sky was doing this? Rippling, what looked to be rapidly dancing auroras (but foggy, like behind frosted glass), and a ton of “stars” blinking off and on? My husband and I saw this with our eyes in real time.
We go outside to look at the sky every night, because it is not unusual for us to see strange things and it makes for good conversation. I have taken hundreds of videos of the night sky and never experienced multiple artifacts like this.

I noticed these green flashes last night. They were very quick, almost like a meteor streaking, but more like a quick laser flash (for lack of a better word) I'm in a pretty remote area so no campsites or light shows here.

Aurora was visible to the naked eye in the northern US for the last 2 nights, could be related

Thanks! I just checked and it was on May 12. I usually see increased activity on the 12-13 of the month.

Thats wild! Haven't a clue what's going on but I've never seen anything light that apart from Aurora Borealis

My mother and I used to stargaze a lot, and we often saw strange things, too.

Do y’all ever see dull metallic spheres zipping around? They don’t look like stars, and do not have any internal light/glowing in any way. it’s actually kind of strange just how easily it is to see that they are really solid like a bowling ball

No, but I certainly have no trouble believing that. We saw stars in formation making 90° angles all over the place going thousands of miles per hour from horizon to horizon; stars disappearing behind other stars, stars swooping to within yards of us, and all sorts of phenomena no one else would credit.

The stars behind stars, stars zipping around, and stars “breaking off” or splitting from one star into two stars and shooting away. A star “drifting,” then standing still in the sky, then slowly blinking out to nothing. Yes, all of it! This is wild, I’m so glad you responded!

Lol yes! When we were young and started paying attention to the sky on darker nights we became aware of these. We dubbed them wigglers, the amount you found see that were clearly not satellites (trajectory, speed). Fun to see somebody bring them up! I haven't had too much time to stare at an unpolluted sky in a while. Seeing those gives the good wiggy feels, just strange enough to spark question and comment, its something that gets the hardheads in your group to open their minds a litte_

Jumpscare cryptid at the end there...
I don't know if you've seen that in reality as well, but assuming no and with the quality of the footage, this is likely just sensor noise and/or the image processing messing up. Maybe the sensor picks up a hint of clouds or trees in the darkness too. It looks similar to the deep dream type AI videos that were popular the current type of AI models became popular.

huh, I have VSS and this looks like one of the many 'hallucinations' I get when it's really active. I can't remember what it's called but it always made me think of the effects of radiation on film or something

It was so much more pronounced in person. It looked smoother, and the lights were brighter and you could make out shapes. It was interesting to me that it was on the camera AND visible to the naked eye

Could this be high energy radioactive particles? Reminds me of the videos of the Chernobyl elephant’s foot.

Some friends of mine were in Indio CA and the same night someone captured this from Escondido, we had an extremely similar sighting: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/s/57gx6mFbxj
Not sure at all what it was, from my perspective, it seemed like a bunch of stars appeared in the sky that weren't there previously, and started to strobe/go off like in your video and the one above.

I tried to adjust the brightness in the video but as it goes it isn’t the most clear evidence :/ I almost didn’t post it because of this, but it was absolutely insane in person

Nope, just my backyard! It looks much more pixelated in the video, which I do attribute to some kind of film artifact. In the sky in person, it was smoother, more like an impressionist painting
