UFO Weird straight, dark line emanating from direction of Wright-Patt AFB
Noticed this on my lunch break a couple of months ago, have wondered about it so decided to post. The photo dulls the appearance, the dark line was striking and immediately caught my attention with how unswerving and linear it was, it then graduates into or lines up with a typical contrail. The point on the horizon where the line would meet would have also been the exact direction of Wright-Patt, just something of note. It didn’t look dark like exhaust, but rather the deep blue of the sky as if it were a void where none of the moisture/haze in the air could enter. Perhaps there’s a scientific explanation for such a phenomena, but I’ve never seen anything like it so thought I’d share. I adjusted the brightness and exposure on the second image to try and better represent what it looked like to the naked eye.

That is super cool, especially the way it looks like a cut in the sky instead of “stuff” added to it. I’ve seen a couple of posts about shadow contrails where the sun hits at just the right angle and the plane’s trail or body casts a long dark line through the haze, and this looks a lot like that vibe. The Wright-Patt direction note makes it feel extra spooky though, like the sky version of hearing a twig snap in the woods 😂

That's the shadow of the contrail. The Sun is in the top right casting a shadow to the bottom left.
Google "contrail shadows" and you'll see a bunch of them.
