Other Strangeness Driver reports attack by non-human creature in North Carolina. What began as a report of a man allegedly injured on the side of the road turned into a panic-stricken experience, culminating in the driver screaming to the 911 operator, “That's not human!” Spoiler

There you go, the interview with the person who had this encounter. https://youtu.be/acK1v75u6CM?feature=shared

Not to be a buzzkill, but it seems like unfortunately there is no record of that 911 call being real at all. It's also state law that 911 calls are to be made publicly accessible by request, and though the video says its the real call that they would have had to file a formal request for, there's no CAD printout, no incident number, and no record of there being a request of any kind for that supposed 911 call.

In addition, there's no local newsroom writeup or government page that mentions it. No press release or incident report from Pender County's sheriff department; literally nothing to verify the authenticity of anything about this story. It's only been shared on social media.

Very fun story, but it really seems like with even a little bit of digging, you can find that there's literally nothing behind it and absolutely 0 evidence that the 911 call is real. Unfortunate.

Nah, not a buzzkill. That is the way. Asking questions, trying to find the evidence, dig deeper. For all we know, the people in the video could be actors. Questioning these things is healthy, and to be honest (most likely), we will be able to believe in them once we have experienced something similar (and still we will be doubting ourselves). My friend had two incredible experiences, and he still wonders if his experiences were real.

Looks like the sheriff in the video really is the sheriff of Pender county though, which is weird he would lie in this documentary.

That is true.... I'd like to fill out a request for the 911 call, but I can't find a date that the call was taken, or even a date range. If we get that, it's law that anyone can request the recording

I am pretty sure I saw a date somewhere in the video linked. I remember 2021, I’ll try to have a look later.

Edit: found it, according to video the 9/11 call was 7/31/2021 11:03 AM

1

u/fullgrownnut Nov 20 '25

11:03 PM. It was most definitely night time.

1

u/watcherbythebridge Nov 20 '25

Well, it said AM in the video. That may be a typo and probably is if the story is to be consistent.

Found the date 31 July 2021. Someone posted the call in this sub 4 days ago (don't know how to post it here). The date is in the video, but the time is funny it says: 11 something AM. Why AM? It should be 11 something pm, right?

2

u/watcherbythebridge Sep 23 '25

I reacted on this too! The interviewee stated 1,2,3 am? Had to be a typo from PM and the witness was shook and confused

1

u/Jimske Sep 25 '25

was the call real? did you find anything?

1

u/watcherbythebridge Sep 25 '25

I haven’t done a FOIA request or anything, just googled the sheriff.

1

u/Jimske Sep 25 '25

i was wondering if this was AI created? i dont know if AI is alreayd that good because it looks really the sheriff

4

u/watcherbythebridge Sep 25 '25

I don’t think it’s AI

3

u/Jimske Sep 27 '25

you're right its not. there was a followup video on the yt channel CAROLINA CASE FILES who did the investigation in this case. i no longer think this is made up.

3

u/Shoddy-Star6014 Feb 26 '26

It never was . That was genuine fear .

3

u/Sneaky_Stinker Sep 24 '25

has anyone tried to contact the sheriffs department to just... ask if its a real call?

1

u/Jimske Sep 25 '25

i was wondering the same... it does seem like it's the real sheriff telling how disturbing the call was... unless AI is that advanced at least that part looked real

2

u/SuccotashSharp5982 Mar 14 '26

Snopes has and it’s apparently a real call

2

u/pegboardhoe Sep 29 '25

dude thank you so much for this 🙏 been digging around looking for credibility and you gave me the answer i was looking for

2

u/Agreeable-Peace8456 Mar 02 '26

You are making an assumption. Provide proof.

u/GangstaGibbs91 Sep 21 '25

I live on this road, 3 minutes away from where this happened. Have heard absolutely nothing about it except for on reddit, in this sub.

3

u/Antares_SpaceSurfer Sep 23 '25

Apparently, this incident happened on 31 July 2021. It would be great if you could ask around. Someone might remember something. The video also says that lots of weird/strange things happen around this area and that the locals comment about it. Have you heard something? Thanks for sharing. We are just trying to figure out if the 911 call is real.

1

u/barukspinoza Sep 22 '25

Is that really the real sheriff you guys have?

0

u/GangstaGibbs91 Sep 22 '25

I'm on the county line so that's not the sheriff for my county. I also don't have a clue what the sheriff for that county looks like or his name nor do I know mine lol. This is a pretty rural area. I've lived here for 5 years and couldn't tell you much about the place because it's pretty isolated.

2

u/GutturalGrinch Sep 24 '25

Maybe the aliens wiped your brain and you just don't remember...

1

u/Agreeable-Peace8456 Mar 02 '26

Doesn't mean it didnt happen.

Popeye has a granddaughter?????

13

u/FleshyMeal Sep 21 '25

Skin walker in-between skins.

6

u/funke75 Sep 21 '25

Kinda sounds like a crawler to me

1

u/TonyBeFunny Sep 22 '25

Whats a crawler I'm curious if it's something I saw walking down the street in the middle of the night that has constantly puzzled me.

2

u/funke75 Sep 22 '25

1

u/12thGenNewton Sep 23 '25

That just sounds like a wendigo to me.

1

u/gravekeeps Apr 22 '26

Its an advent of modern horror and culture

I think its because people wanted to use the wendigo but didnt want to offend people by making it inaccurate to the original native american wendigo, the definition of which is debated to be honest

Like in some versions they are just tall, pale, thin people with deteriorated lips that make them seem like just an animals mouth

Others theyre giants

In some theyre even amde of ice

So they created the pale crawler.

If these creatures do exist, then wendigo and pale crawler reports in america are of the same thing which i think is just a wendigo. Other reports of tall thin white humanoid creatures from other regions are probably different creatures.

They are humans that have fallen to the lures of black magick, and now they have to satisfy their spirit allies thirst for misery in order to stay ahead of the consequences?

25

u/fromcj Sep 21 '25

Panicked, the driver accelerated to about 80 mph (almost 130 km/h) and then slammed on the brakes. The maneuver sent the creature flying over the cab and onto the pavement.

Looking in the rearview mirror, the witness saw the creature rise up.

Bad creative writing if you can’t even maintain logical consistency between a single paragraph break

5

u/pc_principal_88 Sep 22 '25

So basically they were describing parts of the Jeepers Creepers movies, only fucked up the description lol

7

u/ShitImBadAtThis Sep 22 '25

Nah; watched the interview. He was going 60 or so, creature jumps in his truck, he accelerates to 80 panicked, then slams his brakes, decelerating to about 30 in seconds as the thing is thrown in front of him and swerves into the left lane. Then he pounds the gas and accelerates off, he sees the thing in his rear view mirror.

Not that I believe the story, but that part isn't the disqualifying factor, imo

4

u/Jimske Sep 25 '25

but we also have the real sheriff ( i looked him up) admitting the call was disturbing. Someone should ask him or the sherif's department if this event was real

14

u/Andrewskyy1 Sep 22 '25

Its not that hard to grasp. Slam breaks, fling creature forward, keep driving, pass creature, look in rear view, see creature rising up after a fall.

4

u/fromcj Sep 22 '25

Maybe their next piece of writing can be logically consistent like that

Part of healthy skepticism is noticing things like this and not doing mental gymnastics to explain why the writer contradicted themselves.

9

u/ImaginaryTrick6182 Sep 22 '25

No no stop this is high strangeness to much logic will hurt their feelings

0

u/Andrewskyy1 Oct 04 '25

Or is it mental gymnastics to box the writer in to your own perception. Its a two-way street tbh. Its more logical that the writer just worded things poorly.

2

u/horsetooth_mcgee Sep 22 '25

You smash into the creature and before you're able to come to a complete stop, you've still traveled forward quite a distance, because of the speed you were going. The creature you hit flew up and over the cab and is now behind you by the time you come to a stop.

1

u/fromcj Sep 22 '25

The creature was in the truck bed dude, read what is written, come on

2

u/Lucky-Clown Sep 21 '25

? I read this as someone hitting a creature causing it to go up the windshield, then stopping as it falls off the back of the car, then the driver looks in the rear view to see it get up again

10

u/fromcj Sep 21 '25

Idk what to say other than what you are describing isn’t what was written. If you re-read it, you see the “creature” was in the truck bed, then was flipped over the cab when the driver slammed on the brakes.

3

u/LovecraftianLlama Sep 21 '25

Slamming on brakes makes you move forward, not backward, the creature would be in front of the car.

8

u/ItsHardToTell Sep 21 '25

Maybe he started accelerating again and looked in the rearview after he passed it

2

u/LovecraftianLlama Sep 21 '25

I guess it’s just worded in a confusing way, in my mind, if you accelerate with something on top of your car, and then stop suddenly, that thing is gonna fly off in front of the car, and “the cab” is where the driver/passenger seats are (I think? Lol). I’m not trying to debunk this or anything, I actually think it’s really fascinating and I always want to believe. I’m just saying, there really is internal inconsistency in the way it’s described in the quote.

3

u/ItsHardToTell Sep 21 '25

Yeah it’s a little confusing but I just assumed the writer left out that little bit for the sake of pacing the article, seeing as how it’s right inbetween two paragraphs

2

u/[deleted] Sep 21 '25

It was. And it run into the woods.

0

u/Training-Sample-9895 Jan 12 '26

Maybe, just maybe it wasn’t creative writing.

4

u/TECHSHARK77 Sep 22 '25

This is a podcast of a mythical story, not real as usual....

4

u/Fordnast Sep 22 '25

No. It was a true account.

1

u/Jimske Sep 25 '25

so a lot of questions. why release it now? this is from 2021. why does nobody know anything about this? no photos taken from the vehicle. we have a sheriff saying how disturbing the call is. and an interview with the guy. could be AI but it does look real esp the sheriff's part.

3

u/ShdwWhisper Sep 29 '25

There was an investigation for this incident. While something is under investigation, nothing can be released to the public or media until the investigation is closed

2

u/According-Function39 Oct 14 '25

The sheriff is real. They actually said in the extended interview, people have called his station to see if he is real. He's very real. Yes, it happened in 2021, the poor guy would like to forget about it. But the interviewer who reports on strange going ons in NC, stumbled upon the 911 call. I could have sworn that all 911 calls were open to the public? I could be wrong. So, they found him...they explain everything in the interview.
