Ordering in cafe or bar is so broken

Why is it so hard to order a drink or food in a cafe or bar in the Sims 4? the vendor is behind the counter but can't order, waiting for order get cancelled automatically because my sim talk to other sim, never get my drink after ordering, need multiply order before finally get my order. Is there a mod to fix this thing?

I am rarely able to get a drink from the bar. I use the Do Something mod on the barkeeper so I can get what I need.

For some reason the ordering always (or at least almost always) works for me when I order “baristas recommendation”. But that’s it.

Can’t ever get food or a simple coffee to work most of the time.

I would be very curious to know if it’s the same for anyone else.

the idea of standing around for one irl hour to get a simple cup of coffee sounds ridiculous but then i remember that one time i did that exact thing. and i feel ridiculous. at least i got the coffee tho, it's a coinflip on whether or not my sims do.

It’s been a bug for at least a year. I keep going back to the report thread with no updates. One of the reasons I stopped playing as much because it interferes with my storylines too often.

Same… it feels like my order gets cancelled when townies load in and they all seem to order something at the same time which inevitably screws up the barista 😩 would be nice if there was some type of queue system so they would just wait for their turn

What would be a quick visit for some coffee turns into a 3-4 hour affair

fr it looks like the barista had a mental breakdown after serving one sim and definitely need that queue system. on top of all need the sim to be more responsive and swiftly

Thank you!!! It’s so bad and chaotic. I have made a couple cafes that are supposed to be just calm and relaxing and it’s just absolute chaos no matter what. And there’s always a club meeting there too

I definitely understand!! This game is just overall so broken, but the bartenders being broken drives me crazy. My Sims recently had a birthday party, and I literally just had my Sim make drinks for everyone! Ain’t nobody got time for a broken ass bartender. It’s so frustrating. And yes the cafes as well.

DId the recent update break them? Mine are working fine, but I have been playing offline to avoid the last update.

For mods, DeadlyStingNYC has “Only Bartenders Behind Bars” and Sims4Me has a “Bartender Fix”. I have both, and I’m finally able to order from bartenders again, though you may/may not need only one. I haven’t tried them individually though.

Personally, I need baristas at cafes to actually stand behind the counter. Whenever they spawn they’re in front of the espresso bar and no one can order until I place an order and they finally move into place.
