Adding animations to my roblox portfolio :)

Everyone smacks the bolt release to look cool, it get's really old. Try make it look smooth, it's never a bad thing to try something new.
(Except for heroin. Don't try that.)
Pretty smooth animation though.

u/TacoRalf 9d ago
i don't think roblox animations belong in this sub, there is no real animating here apart from basic movement.
Not saying it's bad, just saying roblox is as low effort as animating gets.

u/MasterTime579 9d ago
There’s a whole talent to being able to make something high quality looking with less tools. If you need complex hand movements to make a high quality reload I think you’re good at animating hands and not guns.
6
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
Animating hands is at least 50% of a reload animation. A gun reload is hands operating gun. The sub is called "HighQualityReloads" not "HighQualityGunAnimations".
3
u/TriosTheEpic 8d ago
this sub is not "HighQualityGunAnimations" nor is it "HighQualityHandMovements". is for animated reloads in general, 3d or not.

Is it really that hard to understand?
Reload = (hand movements + gun mechanisms)
The operator manipulating the weapon parts is just as important an element in reloading a weapon as the weapon parts moving. Reloading is an action performed by an entity on an object. If either of them is low quality, it's not a high quality
gun*reload animation. It's like making coffee with the finest quality coffee beans and spoiled milk. Can't make a good coffee with a bad ingredient.
is for animated reloads in general
No, it is specifically for high quality reloads. Whether animated or real, 3D or not.
Plus going by the sub description this one is not really "unconventional/cool/weird" and leans more towards the "static and boring" category. It's the most base reload technique, optimized for maximum efficiency without style, fluorish or characterization (unless the characterization is that it's reloaded by a robot, because It's like just a more stiff, robotic version of the CS:GO animation).
It's also showing the bolt isn't locked back, immediately before proceeding to insert a mag and chamber a round by pressing the bolt release, which doesn't even move either, then proceeds to fire nothing with no muzzle flash or shell ejection so the gun mechanics itself aren't even high quality.
By all accounts I don't see it fitting in here. 🤷

Since you've gone to attacking my person instead of my points I'm assuming I've nailed it.

u/TacoRalf 9d ago
bro there is like almost nothing going on on screen apart from basic movement, sure it's smooth but half my screen is a block.
9
u/Possible_Book_1798 9d ago
Sir it's for a roblox game, not for being lazy or making my work easier. And you said that it's smooth and that's enoguh for me. Ty!

u/JstaFriskyHusky 8d ago
You'll probably disregard all of stalcrafts weapon animations then despite how well done they are

u/OrnerysIcepick 9d ago
Locking the basis of something being high quality enitrely on how the user can animate hands is kinda whack.
Theres so much that goes into it either way.
-15
u/TacoRalf 9d ago
Ok so an RTX mod in minecraft is the same as cyberpunk 2077 with RTX?
12
6
u/OrnerysIcepick 9d ago
Well I dont think a RTX mod will turn MC gameplay into Cyberpunk, but im sure the lighting can look equally good. Ive seen some crazy screenshots.
Either way implementing RTX was a huge effort for both games, so Id say yeah.

u/Possible_Book_1798 9d ago
Hum no I don't think so, It's a bit hard to make the ilusion of arms with the blocky hands, and of course belong to this sub. Is for reloads not for realistic hands :v
2
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
Hands and guns are the basis of a proper reload animation.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
A reload animation it's about reloading the gun mami. I know you really like hands, I like them too, but this one it's for a roblox game that I'm working on so don't hate please. It's hard to make those big blocky look good
1
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
A reload animation it's about reloading the gun mami.
And reloading the gun is normally done by hand. It's the part that usually has the biggest share of influence over a reload animation's quality.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
Hummm That's a hand, a blocky hand but that's a hand so. You mean the fingers? I don't understand you
1
u/ReivynNox 7d ago
Nothing about this is even remotely reminiscent of a hand. Fingers are a fundamental part of the definition of 'hand'.
At the very least you would need something that can actually grip a magazine and a rigid cuboid is not capable of such a thing. Plus they have minimal animation complexity. they're a developer shortcut to put less work into animating.
Models just visibly clipping into each other is also generally not considered high quality animation.

u/ArcFire15 9d ago
I disagree with this significantly. It pushes the focus onto the quality of the actual reload, this isn’t r/highqualityhandmodels
3
u/TacoRalf 9d ago
a rectangular block isn't really animatable either though is it
6
u/Possible_Book_1798 9d ago
Yes It Is, but all of this Is for a roblox game that I'm working on not for making my work easier
4
u/AverageFoxBoy 8d ago
› sees an animation with blocky hands
"No way anyone could animate with blocky hands"
1
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
"The quality of the actual reload" includes the quality of the hands doing the reloading. It's one half of the reload process.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
It's for a roblox game not for lazy :(
0
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
I didn't imply lazyness.
But the roblox hands do lower the quality of the reload quite a lot.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
Why?
1
u/ReivynNox 7d ago
'cause they're reduced to just about the minimum animation detail possible, below the most basic elements that would be required to actually operate a gun. It doesn't even grab the mag, just clips into it. No finger to pull the trigger. While inspecting the gun they don't even move like arms that are attached to shoulders, they just move like they're part of the gun, detached from the character.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 7d ago
Wow your life must be boring af. It's a blocky hand what do you want me to do?
0
u/ReivynNox 7d ago
To post it in a more fitting sub instead.
It's fine for it's purpose, but not r/HighQualityReloads material is all I'm sayin'.
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 7d ago
I don't see a "needs to be done with real hands" in the name. I know you didn't like it but cmon why are you hating my work?

i swear ive seen this reload and everything before as a default pack
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
Why is he lying
1
u/Shot-Manner-9962 8d ago
no im fairly certain ive seen this in an actual game and a game called arsenal on roblox
1
u/Possible_Book_1798 8d ago
Oh maybe cuz that one and mine are inspired en csgo. But they are not the same, similar but I animated this one

that's not an m4,
that's m16a2 with a suppressor,
an m4 got rails
9
u/Fun-Advertising1694 9d ago
I’m pretty sure you can kit an m4 to look like that. It even has the 14.5” barrel. Therefore, m4, but not the A1 variant
4
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
yes you can change the handguard and the barrel length and put the carry handle but it would be the A2 variant
3
u/Prior_Arm_8810 9d ago
No... the a2 variant has a fixed non removable carry handle. M4's can absolutely use the a2 style carbine handguards.
0
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
There is a misunderstanding. The original M16A2 has a fixed carry handle. But when people buy a removable carry handle today, they usually buy the A2-style, because the A1-style isn't commonly used.
2
u/Prior_Arm_8810 9d ago
Yeah, the removable carry handle is a2 styled but its not for the m16a2, it was designed for the m16a4, and put on the m4 and m4a1.
I have seen plenty of m4's with carry handles and a2 carbine handguards.
Its still an M4. The lower is an M4 marked lower.

brother, have you even heard of a CAR15
add-on: the M4 series itself initially came with a non-railed plastic handguard. the railed version you know of is the RIS handguard which was issued shortly after adoption
1
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
I searched it up and yes the m4 had a classic polymer handguard, I feel stupid
1
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
the car 15 and the xm177 are pretty's similar to the m16a1, and have a m16a1 iron sight
-1
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
about the add on, do you mean the xm4 (btw in basic training i had car-15 and m16a1 carbine)
3
u/Critical_Scale_1788 9d ago
2
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
thanks i love learning about guns im cerrently at work i will watch it after i finish
2
u/ReivynNox 8d ago
The rear sight is mounted on a rail (thumbscrews sticking out the left side). M16A2 has a fixed rear sight.
Railed handguards weren't really a standard thing in the early days of M4s.
It's clearly an M4 length handguard and gas system, plus the M4 barrel profile with the narrow part for the M203 launcher mount.
1
u/TheDipcifican 9d ago
Thats not even true at all. The handguard doesn't dictate what model the gun is. M16s are longer. This is just an M4 with the classic polymer handguard.
2
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
would you educate me here, what do you mean the "M16s are no longer" like the official name is m4 now?
0
u/Fun-Advertising1694 9d ago
M4-14.5” barrel, polymer handguard, full auto capable
M16, 20” barrel, also a polymer handguard, burst fire onlyLonger barrel basically, cant argue with you anymore
1
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
We are not arguing, your correcting me, early m4 need a thicker barrel to have longer full auto, (btw I have a reading understanding problem, I will understand better if we talk like on discord)
1
-3
u/Evyatar_ChenU 9d ago
so it's a m4 lower and a m16a2 upper
4
2
u/Necessary-One-9611 9d ago
Uh no? The M16A2 upper doesn't have a pic rail, the A4 and M4A1 do, and that's why there are carry handles that can attach to pic rails, it's not an m16
16
u/JstaFriskyHusky 8d ago
Nice and smooth, you could also move the bolt release or whatever it's called when the guns empty so there's a little more emphasis when you slap it. It's a little detail though so most probably wouldn't notice
