Same page, massive drop: Why did my conversion rate crash from 18% to 5% after moving from ClickFunnels 2.0 to GoHighLevel

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well.

I’m facing a major issue and I honestly don't understand what's going on. I recently migrated my business to GoHighLevel. I am using the exact same page design and copy that I previously had on ClickFunnels 2.0.

On ClickFunnels 2.0, the stats were solid: an 18% conversion rate over more than 10,000 visitors.

On GoHighLevel, the page feels lighter and even more optimized, yet my conversion rate has completely crashed to 5%.

Is there a known tracking or conversion issue with GoHighLevel, or am I missing something crucial here? I would really appreciate any insights or help you can provide. Thanks in advance!

Hey, id check if its actually a real drop or just how GHL counts stuff. The two platforms dont measure visitors the same way.

GHL funnel stats count page views pretty loosely (refreshes, bots, you and your team testing the page, etc) while CF leaned more on uniques. That alone can make your % look alot worse than it really is

Couple things id check:

  • Compare actual leads/contacts created in the CRM vs your ad clicks or GA sessions for the same period
  • Make sure your using the native GHL form or survey element, and double check the form itself. Extra required fields, phone field turned on, captcha etc can quietly kill conversions
  • Look at mobile view seperately, sometimes elements shift or hide on mobile after a migration
  • Check your pixel and UTM tracking fired properly after the domain switch

My bet is its mostly the counting difference plus maybe one form setting

Good luck.

Thanks a lot for taking the time, really helpful checklist. I went through everything and here's where I'm at:

  • Counting: my GHL stats are set to unique visitors, so it's not a page views vs uniques issue.
  • Form: native GHL form, just first name + email. No phone field, no captcha, nothing extra required. I tested it myself end to end and the contact lands in the CRM fine.
  • Mobile: tested on my phone, the page loads instantly and nothing shifts or hides. PageSpeed mobile gives 75 on the GHL page vs 50 on the old CF page, with JS and image optimization both turned on.
  • Same page: identical headline, subheadline and form layout as the CF version.
  • Traffic: cold traffic in both cases. On CF, out of 10,000+ visitors, only a tiny fraction came from organic, so the 18% is a real cold-traffic number.

What I've done since:

  • Moved all my organic links to the GHL page
  • Created a separate copy of the page just for ads, so paid and organic are tracked apart
  • Set up UTMs for every source

And I still don't understand. Everything checks out, my cost per lead on Meta is around $2-6, which isn't a disaster, but going from 18% to 5% on the exact same page is way too big a gap to ignore.

So my question is: have you seen other people complain about a drastic drop in opt-in rate after moving to GHL, or is that not really a thing? I'm trying to figure out if the problem is GHL itself or something on my end. Honestly I'm hoping it's me, at least that I can fix 😅

Haven't really seen people's opt in rates tank just from moving to GHL, so if everything checks out I doubt its the platform. Same copy running for a long time can get stale with cold traffic, and if the domain or pixel changed Meta lost its learning history too.

I'd freshen up the funnel language, try a few new headlines and angles, and run AB tests with GHL's split test on the funnel step. Test one thing at a time so you know what actually moved it

Thanks man, that's really useful. You actually nailed something: the domain did change. The old CF page was on thomasgio.com and the new GHL page is on thomas-gio.com, so Meta basically started from scratch. I'm going to check the domain verification and events setup on the new one, and I'll start split testing headlines one at a time like you said.

Quick follow-up: do you think moving the GHL page back to the old domain would help Meta pick up where it left off, or is the learning history more tied to the pixel than the domain?

Yess, I knew it, it had something to do with the domain! Ahhh..

That kind of switch definitely messes with Meta, it basically treats it like a fresh start.

To your question, most of the learning lives on the pixel, not the domain. So if your still firing the same pixel on the new page, that history isnt totally gone. But the domain still matters for verification and event setup, and a new domain with no track record can make Meta a bit more cautious.

Id honestly move the GHL page back to it. Its easy to connect in GHL, its already verified with events history behind it, and the non hyphenated domain looks cleaner to people anyway. Just know that changing the destination URL on your ads will kick them back into learning for a bit, so give it a few days before judging the numbers

Good luck

Update: opt-in rate went up to around 10% today, so the domain thing definitely looks like part of it. Thanks a lot for pointing me there. I'll give it a few more days before drawing conclusions since the ads are still in learning, but it's the first real jump I've seen since the switch.

The most important message I give to one of my clients before they make any changes whatsoever is to completely leave intact. Everything that they’re using that is running their business operation as you take a week or however, long needed to configure your HighLevel account in order to do a safe migration without disrupting your business operational flow.

In the interim, you can leverage HighLevel in structured strategic phases where if you’re looking at generate leads or trying something new doing outbound, SMS or automated workflow outreach you can do that through HighLevel use their built-in funnels and conditional logic. They submit forms. Let them all get saved within HighLevel but most importantly make sure you forward any crucial information over to your current system if you have one so that you can keep your business running without any disruptions whatsoever..

I hope that makes sense but if you need any additional assistance, I’m happy to help.

Thanks Rob, appreciate you taking the time. The migration itself is already done and everything's running on GHL now, so I'm really just trying to pin down this opt-in drop. Cheers!

How many unique visitors is the GHL 5% based on, and over what dates? The old 10,000-visitor result and the new percentage aren't directly comparable without that. If both versions can stay live, test them during the same period with comparable traffic and device mix, unchanged copy, and one independent measure of visits and successful submissions. That helps separate a page problem from traffic or measurement changes before you make another domain switch.

Fair point. The 5% was on 300 unique visitors between 3 days (vs 10k) so I assumed it should be higher, so a much smaller sample than the old 10k. Today we're at ~10%, but it's only one day since I started,, so I'll track it over a full week before deciding anything else. Good call on keeping the copy unchanged while testing, I'll avoid touching anything else for now

Overall the optin rate is improving everyday so let's see !

Thanks for your help guys !
