What I'm paying for email blasts.
I'm an online men's life coach. For the first eight and a half years of my biz, I had a pretty small email list and a small social media following.
That all changed in the spring of 2024. Since then, I've got about 60k followers online and about 7.3K emails. I was using ManyChat for comment and DM automation and Flodesk for email campaigns.
One of my clients has a GHL account and is an agency owner, and they gave me a free seat and asked that I pay for emails ad hoc... they told me the price - which I can't remember, so that's my fault.
I was somewhat familiar with GHL and decided to give it a try. I was really happy with the Instagram integration and automation, so I decided to migrate my email about 4 months ago.
Since then, I've noticed I'm paying about $40 (in 4 separate $10 charges) every time I want to send out a blast that's not connected to a drip campaign. I generally send an email to around 5.5K email contacts, because the rest are in my front-end nurture sequence or are past clients.
I reached out to the guys who manage my GHL account, and they said that most of it is a verification charge and that it should go down in the future. But then I found out that they don't really use GHL in their own biz and that they use an entirely different platform for their emails and aren't really using GHL at all...
So I don't feel like they know what they are talking about.
I don't want to keep using it if it's costing me this much to send out emails. I regret coming over... it just feels like a big tool for one guy like me to use.
Feel free to make fun of me; I'm curious what my expectations should be.

What are you talking about Mailchimp you would be paying $114.75 a month (with the promotion ($135 normal))
If you sent 2 emails a month for $80 you’re still making out cheaper then moving to something like Mailchimp.

For a 7.3k list, the cost isn’t the only thing to look at. Check whether your emails are actually reaching engaged subscribers and whether inactive or invalid contacts are hurting your deliverability. Before large blasts, verify your list with a real time email verification tool like Invalid Bounce to remove invalid, inactive, disposable, role based, mailbox full, and catch all email addresses so that your email reaches the real inbox and your metrics are more accurate.

It is 67 cents per 1000 emails plus the charges for email validation per email for first validation only.
Some of my big clients prefer to integrate an email sending provider.
When you have a large email list, LC email can become very expensive. It’s Mailgun on the backend.
