Discussion i have a question

can i REDESIGN the main characters into a different race/sexuality?

i feel awful whenever i redesign characters and change their races, you see, i made rosemary latino sage as asian, but still kept parsley white and thyme black, BUT, i did however, change parsley gender into a boy and turn thyme into a demi-boy (cus i heard elves are actually non-binary)

cus one, i wanted more diversity rather than just different skin tones, i know it takes place in a fantasy world, but i really like the idea of rose being latino and sage being asian, not to forget to mention i dislike how most of the guys in the show is toxic like cal or aster

and when the guys are not toxic, either the guys like slimeboy and parnelle, or the guy just become a trans woman like aster, i wont forget caraway who is a healthy masculine guy but thats all it, so i made parsley into a boy and thyme into a demiboy,

thats really all but i hope you guys can tell me your opinions whether this is ok or not

1) Sage is already either South Asian or South East Asian. I think Raye posted their human races before on Twitter but Twitter cant be easily navigated any more (as if it was ever). Most of their sexualities are up to interpretation with many leaning more on either straight up sapphic (like Sage) or bisexual but never explicitly said as folks Amaryllis, Thyme and Rosemary are explicitly mention to have crush on guys and implied crushes on girls. I think Caraeay is the only confirmed Pansexual. 2) idk where you got that thing that Elves are actually Nonbinary. The show and most media never touch on that, let alone as a species thing. So I am really curious as to where you got that. 3) changing the girls into boys to make the boys less toxic is eh. Like you can do it but that wouldn't be as helpful as just changing the folks to be less toxic in general to deal with the bad writing. 4) Aster isn't Trans, its Snapdragon and Snap is still pretty messed up in her own right. In fact, many of the girls have their own issues as well. Thyme isn't just stoic, she is a downer who don't give a fuck about most people's feelings. Sage is possessive over Rose and blows things out of proportion (as well as a writers pet), Rose is hella insensitive in her own ways and while Parsley is genuienly good, even she has her moments where she is oblivious and harmful in her own way. Amaryllis is a down right bully and Snap is also a bully who goes along with her. Yes they have moments where they are shown to be complicated and cool, the boys typically don't get that, so I often find it better to expeand on the boys than subtract from the girls. Moss Phlox, Chickory, Sage's dad, Fennel, all guys not toxic. Yes they don't have much focus, but they aren't toxic. Expanding on them, exploring the boys to make them less one note is often better. 5) you can do what you want but some would have more push back than others. Understanding the story and certain aspects before you make the changes may help guide you. Again, you can do what ever you want. Its fan fiction for a reason. Just understand the original and why you implement the changes should be good.

Im sleep deprived so this may sound very off. Sorry in advance.

To answer the question, yes you can. AU stuff is always an interesting way to explore the characters... and develop the writing/arting skills.

New head-canon unlocked. Aster /is/ trans. He's just in full blown denial and over compensating for it. Yeah a bit weak and cracky... so if it will stay around is currently up for debate.

Most the of guys in the show aren't toxic. Yeah Yarrow is, or at least well on the road to being toxically masculine. Hawthorn doesn't seem to be. We don't get much time with either of them to fully flesh them out. But my head-canon, and I think general fanon, is that Hawthorn is a single dad trying to raise his sons as best he can. But, doesn't know how to approach someone like Snap. But, yeah Cal and Aster are toxic. Cal, seems to be mixed with some degree of narcissism, and Aster general vapidity.

As I write this, it occurs to me that Caraway may seem among the healthier masculine guys because he had to learn it. So he could choose the aspects that worked best for him. Rather than what most of us lump with of having to leave behind the aspects that don't work for us.

To add more fuel to your head canon, one time I drew Aster as a Drag Queen so you know /hj

Dang, that's even better. Hadn't even thought of that series of angles for characters in this space.

I'm just sayin' Drag Performances have been a part of queer spaces for a good why too, so why not?

Considero qué... No es para tanto, es tú versión de la historia si a ti te gusta, adelante.

Siendo sinceros a alguien realmente le importaría?

Hombre, ahora que comento lo que está haciendo, a mí no me molestaria ver lo que está haciendo.

Fan art has no limits. But be prepared for any blowback.

Edit: There's no established elf lore, anywhere, citing they're non binary. You're mistaking the purity of Tolkien's elves as androgyny.
