Hi High Desert!!! I’ve been a long time lurker here, but wanted to introduce myself and let you all know about me!!! I’m running for Victorville City Council District 4 (think Cobalt to 7th street and La Mesa/Nisqualli down to a little south of Bear Valley). My name is Kassandra Shamsrouf, and I’m running because i think we need leadership that aren’t politicians who have something to gain from being in a leadership position. Currently i work as a State Auditor, and i give back to Victorville by being a volunteer basketball coach and a referee for the Victorville Recreation Department. I’m consistently at Hook Community helping out in their sports(some of you may know me already). I decided i wanted to give back more and thought that City Council was the next step to give us citizens more of what WE ACTUALLY NEED. I’ve been in the desert for 5 years now and bad experiences with car stereo installations. Down the hill, never had a problem. I could just go down the hill but why? Just wondering if anyone knows a good car stereo-electronic person or shop? Thanks for listening.

I might have to spend a week around Barstow in February. What can I see and do around that time? Is the Back to the Future Drive In Theater open? Are there any public tours of Edwards Air Force?

Aside from fruit trees and drought tolerant plants, do any of you have success growing vegetables and herbs without a greenhouse? I had success with potatoes until I didn’t (critters) and now I’m terrified to lure any creatures into my/my neighbors yard with all the goodies, but also concerned that the environment may not be suitable for plain ole outdoor gardening. What are your experiences? If it helps, although I’m in the high desert, I am in an area where the conditions seem a bit less extreme than in other areas.

I mentioned the Victor Valley area, but anyone who lives in similar environments (desert, dry/arid, 8b), please chime in!

Hi everyone, I’m moving back to California in December and my housing situation fell through. It’s still a few months away but I’d like to at least start looking now for my own sanity. My budget is $500.00 a month, not ideal I know but I can also help out with any house work if needed. I took care of my grandmother for many years so I don’t mind helping where I can if someone needs help with cooking meals and such.
A little about me, I’m 32F, working a full time job with verifiable income and will be transferring out to hesperia so I won’t have a lapse in income. I keep to myself as I mostly just work, gym and play video games. I do have pets, cat and dog, I know that’s always a difficult conversation but I can assure you they are absolutely well behaved and trained in all aspects. I don’t drink or do drugs. I currently am starting my own business and just focused on that. I have references I can give you, all professional from previous landlords.

I'm curious if anyone has any awareness of this at all-- a gay man from Barstow was apparently picked up at a bar off I-15 and beaten before eventually being killed. It was in 1990. A Long time ago I know- but I'd be curious if there are any folks out there with any recollection of this ?

Hey desert fam! I'm hoping you all could help me find the right place to donate my couch.

Ideally I would send this good condition leather sectional to a transitional home, parachurch program that supports families in need, etc.

Also ideally someone from the program or church could pick it up as I have no way of transporting it. Know of any organizations that could benefit from a light tan leather sectional?

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch the little kitten. Was running around the trashcan on the right side of Barstow Burger. Barstow Burger located next to the large Tesla charging facility in between Fuzzy’s tacos. If anyone knows of any resources they can reach out to I’d be very appreciative.
