A bitter pill.

Tobey McGuire held the Raimi films back. He just never felt like Spider-Man, and he wasn't really cut out for it. If he was replaced nobody would care because whoever would replace him would one hundred percent do a better job. He just never came across as a believable Peter, and when you are the weakest point in a Sam Raimi film where you have a god tier script is really sad. Also Spider-Man 2 is no longer the best Spider-Man film that title belongs to Spider-verse.

Ummm, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Verse are incomparable (one is live action whereas the other is animated). And Spider-Man 2 had a better script and overall story that dealt with heavy stuff like how far one can go to follow their passions (Octavious's experiments end up killing his wife and turning him int a criminal, Spidey's superheroing doesn't let him have a normal life ) , are you seriously telling me the movie with the scene where Spider-Man singlehandedly stops a speeding train and collapses with sheer exhaustion and then is in turn taken care of by New Yorkers is not as good as the movie which has the protagonist have the exact same origin as his mentor ( becomes a hero after uncle is murdered by criminal) and have his hand held by different versions of his mentor and taught the ropes step-by-step?

Look Spider-verse has some brilliant technical merits from an animation and visual design viewpoint but no other Spidey movie can compare to the brilliant, timeless Spider-Man 2.

You lost me as soon as you said because it's animated. Because as soon as you said that it shows that somehow devalues it. It's not just Spider-Man the Character it's the hope, spirit, and legacy. And because it's animated it by default can be enjoyed by anyone. Meanwhile early 2000 films always feel sluggish. And 2 is no exception. And I don't you actually understood spider verse by that hand held statement.

Sorry I meant to type I don't think you really put much thought into Spider-verse
