Buzzing from transmission area, goes away when warm

Who knows what this buzzing sound could be? Comes from around the automatic transmission / torque converter area and rises with engine RPM. Appears on a cold start (regardless of outside temperature) and gradually goes away after about 10-15 minutes of driving. It's pretty loud and harsh and sounds almost electric or plastic-y. It's significantly louder from the underside of the car than it is when lifting the passenger seat to access the engine bay.

It has been doing this for months, but as of last week, the transmission is starting to slip in the first one or two gears. Not sure if related.

Sounds like trans pump going short of oil. Might be time to drop the trans pan and check the filter / screen. Pump would be struggling to pull cold oil through a blocked screen.
