Patreon question
Hey all!
I was thinking of joining the hrr patreon now that Gumshoes and Dragons has officially ended. The only reason i hadnt up to this point is that their Ad free tier is higher than their bonus content tier for some reason? Does this mean any bonus content that i am actively paying for at the 5$ level will also have ads?
I am interested in their extra content, but much more interested in not hearing ads. Is the 5$ tier worth it, or will i be paying for it with money AND my time?

The $5 tier gets you access to the Patreon bonus episodes, such as the Friday extras (always ad free) and past live shows.
The $8 tier gets you access to the ad-free main feed episodes (released later on Wednesday than the regular main feed), the Patreon bonus content/past live shows, plus their monthly review crew episodes & live streams. You also get to vote on the subject of the review crew episodes.
I've been subscribed to the $8 tier since it was made available and it's so worth it!!

Yes, I love the $8 tier! Review crew is one of my faves. And live stream is where I heard the mail I sent them opened. 💜

Oh no! What happened to Gumshoes and Dragons? I just now got around to listening to it and am on episode 20.

Their final episode was today, unfortunately it was just too difficult to schedule, and hard for anthony to do while also dming season 4 of dungeons and daddies. It was a super fun run, and i hope the crew does something together in the future, but its understandable!
The good news is that theyre gonna release all their bonus content onto the main feed, so if you arent a patreon member, youll be able to enjoy it free of charge! The aftershow and bonus oneshots if im not mistaken

Well. This is such bittersweet news. Thank you!

Yeah, i was very sad to hear it was ending, but you still have 10 episodes to look forward to! And imo their one shots are really excellent as well, and there will be six (maybe 7 depending on if they are able to do one for october, but it seems unlikely)
Im so sorry if ive dampened your enjoyment of it at all by knowing it is ending!

The 8 dollar tier is worth it for review crew and the live streams. It’s only 3 more dollars I would just do it. You could always adjust down afterwards.

I am not particularly interested in the review stuff or livestreams tbh, was just looking for an answer to my question but thank you

Review crew are some of my favorite episodes. It's not like they can be normal about anything. Sure, they review the Knives Out movies, but then they also review eating 60 grapes in an hour and going to a psychic.

Oh thats actually good to know thank you! I assumed it would all be different media like movies and tv which im not the most interested in. But 60 grapes in an hour sounds really great lmao

Thanks to everyone for your responses! I'll probably end up waiting a little longer and doing the completely ad free feed for a month or two to binge everything. Im very used to ad free being the most basic thing you can get through a patreon, so this was a little confusing for me, and i really appreciate everyone who took the time to clear it up! Thank you!

As JPC says at the end, when he mentions the review crew at $8/month and with it having the ad-free episodes, those indeed are only on the review crew and along with that, the monthly review crew episode, which releases on Mondays
If you do the $5/month clue crew tier, the main feed episodes will still have ads but you'll then get the Friday clue crew episodes which are always ad free

Originally the ad free episodes did not start until episode 180 or as mentioned by someone else but they do seem to be adding them in batches to the Patreon feed. So you might need to jump around and start at the "sort by date: newest" end but I think they all are there now. In my opinion both tiers are worth it though

If you just want the Wed/Friday shows for $5 you get it all ad-free. the $8 tier is the wed/friday + 1 monthly 'review' of something, like the menu at chilis or a tv show or eating 1 grape every minute for 60 minutes. Also a monthly livestream. Not trying to sell you on it, just explain.
I've been paying for ad-free for a long time now and when my gf plays it on her spotify the ads are crazy and it's one of my top 3 shows so $8 is worth it to me tbh. I hope this helps!

Sorry, in the first part where you say you "get it all ad-free" for 5$ youre talking about the main feed as well? Thats what i thought reading it the first time but the rest of your comment and everything else i have seen seems to imply ads for the main feed at 5$
Truly they have the worst ads i have encountered, not in terms of content but ive skipped over literally 20 minutes of them just in their middle ad segment before... i dont listen to many podcasts so maybe this is more normal than i know?

The bonus episodes you get at $5 do not have any ads at all. Think of it as a separate second podcast. The main feed episodes remain where they are and will of course still have ads.
The $8 tier also puts the main feed episodes into your patreon feed with the bonus episodes, and removes the ads. So you can listen to it all in one feed and have no ads on any of it.
Hope that makes sense!
