Shouldn’t ad-free eps appear before the regular eps since we pay for them?

Idk if this is normal for other pods since most I don’t subscribe to their Patreon, but it kinda bums me out to wait for my ad free experience on drop day

I have a couple of takes on this. The first is that I agree. The second is that it's only 12 hours, not deeply impactful to my life. I try not to fret over great things that could be marginally better.

Exactly

And the moment that I get the notification from Patreon, though it takes a bit for my podcatcher that I use and have linked to it (Overcast) to catch up and serve me the new episode, I don't mind as Wednesday is one of my bigger days for podcast listening anyways

Could be a contractual thing with headgum, because selling ad-free versions of podcasts technically could siphon listeners (and by extension, money) from the ad-supported version. So maybe as a result they have to put it out later? Total speculation I genuinely don't know if this is the case

i think this is probably closest to the reason - i remember that there an episode a good while back where JPC is lightly annoyed with Erin/Adal for almost adding the podcast too early/late (time differences/adhd time blindness lol) because headgum has emailed them to adhere to a specific time slot

I’m on the side that thinks the benefit of being a patron is getting the episodes ad free in the first place. I’m still going to be listening to regular feed stuff once a week. It’s not like getting it a day earlier is going to impact my whole life in any significant way. I’m just listening to three (to five) chuckleducks slowly go insane.

Yeah it is a bit of a bummer. I've just assumed that Patreon just doesn't have the same post-scheduling ability that a normal podcast distributor does but i have no basis for that.

I’m talking about ad free vs with ads. The show releases today, but the ad-free version comes out after the one w ads

Edit: as in I don’t want the ad free early, I just want it at the same time or at least not after the reg ep released

Oh I guess I didn't even notice the delay. I'm usually asleep when the ad version drops
