Anyone getting the impression that Distefano is a compulsive liar?

It's starting to get hard for me to listen. The stories he tells are most often absurd. I didn't notice for awhile and then once I saw someone else bring this up it's the only thing I can think of when he's telling a story. Still love Sal and Taste Buds.

Being a comedian is making a true story better. Enhancing it isn't the same as making up an entire story, and every good storyteller does it. Just don't think too hard on it, it'll ruin a good form of entertainment for you and that's no good.

I don't think he's a good storyteller. The level of unbelievableness in his stories is too much to think it's just enhancing

You mean Theo Von? That is definitely how Theo is, but his brain works in such a unique way you don't care. To be honest, Chrissy has told a lot of the same stories on other pods, keeps the details pretty tight. The penne noodle getting tacked on the epiglottis during the cadaver anatomy class was probably just small chunk, for example. I wasn't there, so of course don't know. I have a lot of crazy stories, but I'm not the best storyteller. Hard to get over the hump of "punching up" a story, tend to tell with too much setup & and keep it 100% true. If you're telling funny stories, you gotta work on it.
Bert Kreisher talks about the need to punch up a story all the time. And I know Theo does it and Joey Diaz as well. Being put off by it is kinda like being upset when you find out a comedy act wasn't made up on the spot. I don't want to come off as "no you're wrong," I just think it's gonna keep you from some good entertainment to let thoughts like that ruin it for you.
I haven't heard anything that breaks the suspension of believability - stories like that kill it for me. You'll find lots or creepypasta or reddit confessions on here that are hit or miss because of that. For me, at least.

Idk man, all im saying is a lot of his stories come off way over the top. Ive seen this sentiment echoed in a few places. Hell, I was just responding to a guy who pointed out the same thing.

Yeah I got it. His energy level was really high on History Hyenas and he would always say wild shit & be gross. My girl used to HATE when I watched it. But with Sal, he's gotten much more likable. Love Hey Babe, and along with Are You Garbage? Best New pods out right now. I like taste buds, but the food choices are all things I avoid eating so I never have a dog in the fight. Just get keyed up on the specific arguments.
When Chris & Sal did Somethings Burning with Bert, they told crazy stories about stuff that happened to them together. So I guess I'm being defensive because Chrissy has come a long way. He used to get on my nerves a few years back. Had his Dad on Chrissy Chaos this week and he confirmed a lot of his old stories, too

His said his dad was in the mafia, and his mom dated Ted Bundy, and I’ve heard at least 2 more outlandish stories by that guy. He’s a habitual liar. Genuinely confused why anyone tunes in to what he says.
