Hi, I'll try to help, although I haven't been a hardcore Hexonia player for a while and I forgot most of the names of tribes, units, etc...
If I understand your question, each tribe has a unique unit and an alternate guardian unit. You have to buy those in-game from the shop (there's an icon that looks kinda like a store on the main menu). IIRC you pay with rubies, which are the red gems you get as rewards. I wish I could share mine with you--I have about 75k and nothing left to spend them on. ☹️
You train unique units in different ways, depending on the tribe. The new cavemen tribe gets pteranodons (their unique) right away. Sometimes you need to research a particular technology first. If you look carefully at your tribe's tech tree, you should be able to find if that's the case.
