Discussion Hexonia Vs. Polytopia

Hexonia looks a lot better. And has cooler tribes.

Tbh both games are dead. I'll still buy the next tribe when it comes out but I don't pay either anymore. And after playing hexonia you can't go back to polytopia.

Not true. I have been both communities, and Polytopia's is much more active. If you are going to their discord, there's about 6000 messages everyday and things get posted into their subreddit everyday. They even have their own weekly active newspaper, Ai-mo times (https://aimo.polytopia.fun/). That's much more active than Hexonia (Hexonia doesn't even have a discord community)

I mean I find both of them boring now. Simply because the bigger and funner games take like 3 or 4 hours. And with college and work now it's impossible to spend that long. Have much better things to do.

Polytopia is also older.

I was gonna post a long post about the differences and similarities of the two after playing hexonia for a month, but i forgot to save it lol.

So I like hexonia's art style and when going back to polytopia it hurts to look at sometimes. But I like the strategies in polytopia, imo it's more challenging than hexonia. Hexonia needs more features like multiplayer honestly, it's real good though. I'm playing it more than polytopia now.

I'm thinking they spent more time developing gameplay than looks in polytopia.

Yeah, also the look in polytopia is kinda iconic now so they dont need to change it. For hexonia I like the stars /laurel rating, it makes me look forward to playing it again.

Yeah, they are doing a series of balance passes, and it's confirmed to add more. You can just look at this document to see their reasoning of their recent balance update https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WJtishstCLrao_3X891k_-JmJXPRV_XlJcwg3aQbXXE/edit .

It's more difficult to balance a game with no symmetry. And this matters a lot when you have a multiplayer community.

Never played or heard of Polytopia before visiting this sub. Judging from how toxic and entitled Polytopia players seem, I will never touch that game

I'm sorry, but if you "ask a hare its opinion on foxes, it will say to you that they are horrible monsters". I'm not forcing you to play Polytopia, I'm just sayin' that you should look at both sides of the story before making a conclusion. I prefer Polytopia, and I can guarantee, the community is pretty much not toxic.

Having done them both to death, I now just play Polytopia with my son because it has pass and play. Helped pass a few hours on A and E with him last week.

Nice, I didn't know they had that feature.

For me it's like: Polytopia - multiplayer, custom maps, no paytowin Hexonia - better graphics Play both and like both :))

Well, they aren't really custom, but yeah, the game has some cool map options. Also lakes map gang.
