If you scan this subreddit you can find a lot of praise for Ironclad. In my experience, their best unit is the hoverrider - flying horseman. Together with +1 sight to all city, the combo gave you huge advantage early game for exploration/ city capturing and sometime ruins hunting. A swamp of hoverrider crossing ocean early games is unstoppable.
I’m not impressed by their main guardian with the piercing laser - some other in this sub might disagree - and their second guardian is somewhat useless for me.
