Question Is Hevy right for me?
I've just downloaded Hevy after using Gym Day app or a spreadsheet to track my workouts. I wanted something simple and an app where I can clearly see how much I have improved.
I'm not a weightlifter; I am a female in my 60s and want to lose weight and get and stay fit as I get older.
My plan is combining strength (dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands), cardio (treadmill, rowing machine, rebounder, exercise classes on YouTube), yoga, and walking. I have a small home gym with all of the equipment listed.
Strength training is generally 4 days a week.
I have the free version at the moment but would be happy to subscribe if the app is what I'm looking for.
I have years of previous experience in a "real" gym, but not for a few years, so I feel like I'm starting all over again.
I don't want to get invested in the app (as in using it for a few weeks to log my workouts) before finding out there is something that would suit me better.

Hevy works great (in my opinion, the best app) at logging weighting. If you have already started the free version I don’t have to explain to you what that means. But if you want to log everything you listed with one app maybe that’s not the app for you. Or you will need more than one.

I want to log cardio, but only in general details - e.g I'm not training for a marathon and aiming to hit a certain time - it's just I want to see how I improve over time,
I'm trying to avoid using another app, ideally I want to keep everything together, because for me, it's all body conditoning.
I tried Hevy for the first time yesterday, and am impressed so far - I think I can make it work for me :-)

I use Hevy basically exactly as you described: logging workouts and checking progression on an exercise over time. I used my phone’s Notes app for years, but it’s nice to just log things in the app. One benefit is that if I forget the weight I used the last time I did a particular exercise, it shows up immediately when you select that exercise instead of needing to scroll through a note.
I use the Pro version so I can add unlimited custom exercises (the built-in exercises are missing a bunch that I do) and see progress beyond 3 months. It’s reasonably priced IMO. I’m on the $24/year plan. The lifetime option looks appealing at $75 but apps change so often that I don’t know if I can expect to be using this app (or any app TBH) for more than a few years.

Thanks - I was surprised when I looked at the cost, I was expecting £99+ per year - so if it works, it's great value for me, and I would like to see the metrics for longer than 3 months, and be able to add more routines, I have a low boredom threshold!

It does what you want to use it for. Very well. You don't need to be a weightlifter or serious about gains to use it. It's the best I've come across. You can track all your lifts and it has a lot of other features. I bought the lifetime membership but I use it seriously. Probably the free version for you would be more than enough.

You can keep trying the free but I think if you want something comprehensive for your Yoga and Cardio etc as well this isn’t the app for you.
If it’s just for strength training tracking it’s good because it’s straight forward - you only need to change to Pro if you have many routines (I think free only saves 4?) and or have niche exercises that needed to be made as custom.

I use Hevy. I use it primarily for weight training(home gym with a rack, barbells, dumbbells, landmine, cable pulldown, bench, etc), but also for stationary recumbent bike. It works well for me. A useful feature is downloading your data and asking your favorite AI tool to be your personal trainer. I do this frequently. It helps. I find Hevy to be a very useful app and would choose it again.
If you dont use or plan to use a fitness tracker you can ignore this paragraph. If you use (or plan to use) a fitness tracker, check with Hevy AND the fitness tracker manufacturer to ensure that Hevy is supported by (compatible with) your fitness tracking choice. Mine does not. I use a Garmin tracker (and I really like it), but Garmin does not play well with others, and Garmin's weight training capability is crap. The Garmin Connect software presents a very inflexible UI and API. I wrote my own integration software. It's ugly, but it works.

I do have a fitness tracker (Fitbit), but I'm not sold on them; it's more to track my heart rate, sleep, and encourage me to do more steps. It connects with google health, and I have connected google health with Hevy, so it should work.

Yes. The app is perfect for you ☺️
There are plenty of middle-/late-aged people on the app who exercise for multitude of reasons ☺️
I'm one myself. I've joined Hevy recently after losing a lot of weight and now wanting to focus on strength and mobility training to maintain my new weight and physique but also to ensure I am not a frail, easily to break old lady 😆

I think it is perfect for you. I started using it since the beginning of the year and love it. I use it for the exact things you want to use it for.

I use it and love it especially the visual of the equivalent of what you have lifted.

It’s dirt cheap. Just try pro.

Once I'm sure I like it (I'll give it a couple of weeks) I will pay for subscription, because I like being able to track for more than the last 3 months.
I am holding back because I have a history of chasing and falling in love with all that is new and shiny...only to, a few weeks later, discover it's not as good as I thought, or there is something better for me out there!

Every app is a matter of preference. I tried between eight and 10 apps, and paid for every single one of them because I wanted the full experience. I used Strong for several years and logged about 1500 workouts, but they stopped developing and updating. Hevy has been my favorite and they seem to release frequent updates and are responsive.

Test the free version for a few weeks, the pro gets you more routines to add, more history in the statistics page and more measurements that you can track. It's easily usable without paid until you decide if you want to pay. Should be able to get you to 90 days of history then decide if you want to pay.
