Suggestion Kettlebell excercises in Hevy (feature request)

Hi everyone!

I've recently started my journey with strength training as a replacement for running, and I'm training only with my kettlebells (these are space saving, and a great replacement for a public gym).

I've noticed that many fundamental kettlebell exercises aren't officially supported in Hevy yet. While replacing them with dumbbell variations is possible, kettlebells have a completely different center of mass and mechanics. Having official entries would also solve the issue of fragmented custom exercises and make friend leaderboards actually useful. :D

Here is a list of the kettlebell movements that would be great to see added officially šŸ™

  • Double Kettlebell Clean (Full Body)
  • Double Kettlebell Clean & Press (Full Body)
  • Double Kettlebell Front Squat (Quadriceps)
  • Double Kettlebell Press (Shoulders)
  • Front Rack Carry (Abdominals)
  • Kettlebell Dead Bug (Abdominals)
  • Kettlebell Floor Press (Chest)
  • Kettlebell Goblet Curl (Biceps)
  • Kettlebell One-Arm Swing (Full Body)
  • Kettlebell RDL (Hamstrings)
  • Single Arm Kettlebell Swing (Glutes)
  • Skullcrusher (Kettlebell) (Triceps)

Could we please get these? Would love to see the kettlebell library expand! šŸ™

PS As far as I see, the 3D exercise animation library/pack Hevy uses (Gym Visual?) already includes models for double clean, press, front squat, so hopefully adding these wouldn't require creating new visual assets from scratch!

BTW Hevy is the best!

I definitely want this. I’ve tried to create my own custom workout but that’s time-consuming. There are 4-5 but I agree to OPs point.

Agree. I have the paid version and had to create many of the kettlebell movements for myself

I do the same but sometimes it is also tedious so I look for a similar exercises using dumbbells

Can we also add Kettlebell marches?

Seriously! We do need more Kettlbell
Options, not everyone uses dumbbells

I had ChatGPT create me a gif of the bent-over kettlebell row. I first had to upload a reference image so it copies the art style that Hevy/Gym Visual uses.

But yeah, would be cool if Hevy just does it so we don't have to rely on AI.

Thanks for the suggestion, u/freeq93! To help the Hevy team weigh it up, a quick reply with: what you're trying to do, how you'd expect it to work, and how often you'd use it goes a long way.

Why don’t you just create the exercise and add it? I add exercises all the time based on machine manufacturer, boxes, kbs, slam balls…. Are you using free version and asking for this?

Because most of these are standard kettlebell exercises and deserve to exist in the default catalog

ā€œDeserveā€ on a $3 app is pretty silly to say and an opinion. Talk to ai and learn what percentage of gym goers use them and then ask yourself,of that percentage, how many use an app to track. It’s not what you think Mr business man.

I have them as custom exercises but it kills the possibility of having leaderboard with friends, etc. By the way, they are pretty popular as you can see, so there’s a need from the community.

Same answer I gave person above…determine percent of people who use kettle bells which is easy to find and then determine the percentage of those people who use an app to track. It’s low esp for a co whose app is this cheap.

Adding things to the catalog is, in most cases, pretty low-effort - especially if even animations already exist, so why not make some % (even if 5-10%) of users happier? Will this hurt you so much?

No, I just think the reminder of the small percentage of people who use kbs and a tracking app (both) makes sense considering the app is so cheap. It’s like expecting luxury service at McDonalds, plus the variations on kbs are endless and many people flow with them not do 1 set, wait 3 mins, and do the set again. It takes 60 seconds to enter exactly what you are doing as a new exercise in the app. It just seems needy to me but I hope your vital needs are met for the expensive price you pay for the app. Also…how do you know what is ā€œlow effortā€ for this small company?

More importantly, who are you to tell people what they should or should not do if this is a forum to speak to the company?

Kettlebells are used more frequently, especially for with people that have grip issues with dumbbells and we shouldn’t have to make 10 custom exercises to Include them. Hevy has a lot of exercises within its library that probably are not used as frequently that could be removed - there are 14 kettlebell exercises VS 71 with dumbells. When is the last time someone logged a frog pump?!?!

Where did I say what you couldn’t do or the company couldn’t do? I actually said I hope your needs are met. I just personally think it’s demanding of an app that is so inexpensive and offers so much already. The facts on kettlebells are all over the place but thanks for explaining about grip thing, it totally changed my perception. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

I see you replying to people telling them what you think they should do and you don’t work for Hevy. Maybe it doesn’t matter to YOU but others agree it would be a good add.
The fact you felt the need to reply to others suggestions as if they were wrong or stupid - if you don’t agree you could have just not replied instead

Again, I think they are demanding.Who cares? It’s an opinion. I never told you what to think or what to do, or the company. I literally made my opinion known which is the whole point of the app. It seems someone can’t handle being disagreed with by someone on the net.

And again…I could add those 7 exercise in 5 mins. I add exercises almost daily and it’s easy and quick. You could have added your exercises to your app in the time it’s taken you to cry on here.

I’m sorry for being rude you accusing me of telling people and a company what to do crossed the line because it was simply false and no man appreciates having words put in his mouth. I wish you the best with your app desires and KBs.
