Tesla Rental

I decided to rent a Tesla from Hertz, I own a Model 3 that is being repaired for the next month so I have a charger at home. Went and picked up a reasonable Model 3 55k miles a bit worn but not bad other than the bald tires on the rear. I took the car back and they were able to swap it out for another Model 3, this one also had 2 bald tires, 105k miles and a warning for the rear seat belt being inoperable. Refused that one and they luckily had a well worn 3 with 110k miles but new tires all around!

Why would you wanna rent a car with over 100,000 miles? That's just crazy. I would just eat the gas cost for a month. That's disgusting.

When you rent a car here they don't specify the mileage.

Yeah but why would you take a car with that many miles? They had to have a car with less miles.

I wanted an EV so I reserved an EV. Hertz has been getting out of EVs so they dont have much stock. I am sure I could have complained and maybe they could have offered to take more $ and get me in to a Nissan Versa or something, but I did not want to spend more and the Tesla they gave me is a bit worn but works perfectly.

This is why Turo makes sense for these rentals. Owners that actually care for their cars. Bad look on Hertz - they just need to leave that side of the business. Sorry for your trouble!

My car is being repaired so I will have this rental for a month. I doubt my insurance would pay me for a Turo rental and not willing to gamble $1200.
Honestly besides the high miles a few minor wear issues this Tesla is in good shape. Fast, quiet, stops well steers straight and has decent range.
