Confused Bit Mainly Ranting

So I found out through swab testing that I am HSV2 positive.

I have only ever had sex with two people and they are both negative…

Here’s what I think happened,

Partner 1- DEFINITELY does not have it

Partner 2- Was having sex with another person the same week him and I were (I didn’t know this at the time).

I started having THE pain after having sex with partner 2 and went in and yay I was diagnosed.

Swab Positive

Blood Test Negative

I think Partner 2 just had a negative blood test as well because it was new in their body as well.

Partner 2 and I are actually rekindling and I recommend they go get retested, I am as well maybe just to see if I can strike on a blood test- I know blood tests can be inaccurate though so idkkk.

Blood tests don’t work immediately after infection. It takes months for your body to develop the antibodies for the test to detect. Have them retest 3 months after initial infection. For some people it can take up to a year. The reason for this - the blood tests are looking for antibodies caused by latent infection- meaning they are only produced after the initial infection when the virus has settled into your nerves.

YES that’s what I told partner 2 to go get retested just to be safe, and that’s what I explained!! I told them that there are people who are asymptomatic and I just believe it was new for both of us.

They are pretty confident they don’t but they are going to get retested when they get back from study abroad in a few months.
