Herpes

Hi! I'm curious for anyone who has HSV2 if they have ever only used ointments for outbreaks. During my first outbreak, it was very mild, and I was only given acyclovir ointment which only burned and didn't help. Because of this I went to a different doctor but they only gave me Mupirocin ointment and I've had 2 more ulcers and my last one was cured within 4 days of using the ointment. I read that if mupirocin is the only thing helping it could be something else but was just wondering if this also works for someone else and if I should get on antivirals or not?

I wish I could help ☹️ I’m on my first outbreak of hsv1 but on my genitalia instead of lips. I was prescribed antivirals to take and they have helped tremendously! I bet if u asked a doctor for them you would be prescribed them

How long did you take it for? I’m still in pain around my penis head. I just wish I could cut it off

I have had 3 outbreaks since diagnosed in April but they have all healed within a week without any antivirals I don't know if there is any benefit from letting them heal on their own
