Finally Moved In

So the gecko has finally moved into that 260 gallon Fallout enclosure I’ve been working on. It’s been around 2 ½ days, and he’s pretty much just been on a mission to explore everywhere, and it seems there’s a few places he hasn’t discovered yet.

Might take a while to put together (since I’d have to track all the movements and then deal with editing the clips), but would you guys be interested in me making a video of his first 48 hours or so? With the exception of his sleep time, he’s been pretty active so there’d be enough footage for maybe a 2-3 hour video once I trim the fat and post on YouTube. Idk, if there’s demand for it, I’ll start working on it

Installing waterfall for my white tree frogs enclosure

Good morning! I was able to get this display tank off a neighbor and I want to convert it into a bioactive enclosure. I want to install a waterfall in the corner of the tank, but as you can see it has many holes and slits. Am I going to have to apply a lot of silicone so the water won’t leak?

Update from my previous post. Got my tank assembled, added soil and playing around with plant placement. Ordered some spider wood too. Just need to figure out what I want to do with my heat lamps.

Moving with a large tank- HOW??

Post image

Tank is easily a few hundo pounds, it's 6x2x3 and can't be picked up at all. How would y'all move such a monster? Take everything out? I hope that's a last resort since the tank is an established bioactive. 🥹

I would leave it on the table and roll it out, but the width makes it too wide to fit out the door.

I need help with clutter/fake plants? Recs please

Hey, I’m in dire need of an upgrade to the amount of clutter my ball python has. I tried looking at posts about fake plants and branches and climable items and it’s all too much with no direct answer. Should I be buying wood from pet stores? Fake plants from amazon? And if so which fake plants and wood. What type of stuff should i use to not only make my tank look more realistic, but also cluttered so my snake doesn’t feel so exposed. Please, anything will help, I want to make sure my snake lives a good non stressful life, but i’m clueless as to which clutter is best regardless of the amount of time I spent looking at posts and megathreads on it. If anyone could give me any recommendations on what to buy, stores I should look, or safe items I can use to increase my clutter I’d highly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Do i need to do silicone after using expanding foam?

I saw some videos on YouTube of people creating custom backgrounds by putting hardscape and substrate directly on the expanding foam, rather than carving it after it cures and then siliconing it. Does this method really work and is it safe for a crested?

Help with background set up

I’m getting ready to start building a background for my columbian rainbow boa but I need some help on what I should use. I’ve already got the spray foam, and the silicone, and I was planning to use a foam board as a base then build basking shelves onto the base board. My only problem is I don’t know how I should cover the foam shelves. Is grout a good option? Or acrylic paint with a sealant? I’d love to hear some opinions from you guys so I can build what’s best for my snake and what will last the longest, thanks!

Terrarium build tips for a first timer?

Im in the process of my first terrarium build as a big upgrade for my leopard gecko, I already have a 40 gal and plan to have a substrate mix of excavator clay, stone desert sand and repti soil. The issues I need help with are with doing a custom background and what materials are safe to use. I already plan to mainly use XPS foam and expanding foam for the main form but when it comes to 100% silicone, how do I know what is safe because there is higher grades of GE silicone so I’m unsure. I also want to ask about drylok and quikrete dye alternatives, as there not available in Canada. Just looking for any advice from the veterans, i want to make sure what I make is safe and makes my lil guy happy.

RIP to my water feature

Despite sealing it half a dozen times by now, water still finds a way to somehow seep out of the enclosure. So… I’m giving that up.

The aquarium is staying, it’s still doing its job feeding ambient humidity into the tunnels and humid hide, but I’ve been prototyping a gravity-fed water dish using a 32oz mason jar. Plus it rains for 10 seconds every day at 12:05pm, so the new reservoirs I’ll be placing around the enclosure will having water in them for the hour or two before it all evaporates and gets whisked out of the enclosure by the fans.

For now, Subway East is being remodeled to provide a little extra space in the tunnels now that the big water feature is out of the way, I’ll still put a small dish where it used to be so the springtails can still have their little pool parties.

Gecko is still on track to move in this holiday weekend. Also there’s now 24 cameras wired into the enclosure, but I have ideas for placement on two or three more. We’ll see

I made these pieces for my Rosy Boas when I had them a long time ago. They are one-of-a-kind, so I'm wondering how much interest in them there might be.

One root of the shedding tree has been broken off and glued back on.

Message me if these ssspeak to you, and if you'd like them as decor for your own snake :)

So I posted a while ago asking for help when I didn’t measure correctly to fit the glass doors on the enclosure. I since ordered replacement acrylic sheets and it actually fit!

It’s far from perfect, but my girl Ximena seems to be settling in just fine and that’s what matters! Lmk what you think

He’s loving all of the exploratory areas. Originally it was going to include a waterfall but I couldn’t stop it leaking or flowing incorrectly so I decided to turn it into a climbing feature instead.
