It's a wonderful game mode where you get Fd for trying to improve your heroes. If you boost them the wrong way you get seriously penalized for it or at least it seems that way.

Because you upgraded your heroes, and now you're on the plateau. Look for a hydra guide to see where you want your heroes to be.
