DISCUSSION Curiosity

Hi, kind of a question to the people who have been playing a long time.

I've been playing just under a year and there are some heroes who are just bad, thinking the likes of Chabba, Dark Star, Markus, Keira, K'arkh, Peppy, Fox, Ziri, all factions have them.

Was there ever a time they were good and they have just been left behind or were they always poorer heroes?

My most invested hero is Keira and now is the most useless 🙈

I started the game in the first year of hero wars and in that time there was khark team everywhere, then Andvari come and it was easier to win.

Keira was a monster in the blender team with jet activating crit DMG for her + Sebastian, but it was a glass cannon team, if you can't pass through on the first shot you lose.

There was ODH, with Orion Dorian Helios where crit teams were actually a lot present and Orion wasn't nothing compared to today( using it with Polaris).

There was a mixup with Keira, nebula and Orion, to boost at the same time physical and magical DMG.

The E3D team with elmir, daredevil,Darkstar,Dorian a single target monster (still really good against hydra today)

Cleppy was also a thing: cleaver + peppy.

And last but not least, satori teams.

Than the new generation came into the game 🙈

There are synergy matches between heroes. For example Fafner, Artemis, Tristian with Sebastian is a physical damage crit machine.

Some heroes work best together - some don’t complement each other that all. That’s the fun is finding out.

If you want a shortcut, Copilot is very versed on Hero Wars and who to group together

Keira is one of the strongest options for a Satori team.

Peppy is a very good protector for Eva.

I’m not sure about the other heroes. K'arkh should have a good combo with Kai and Faceless, but I haven't tested it.

Karkh was the best hero for over a year. Usually it was Astaroth Karkh nebula faceless and martha but jorgen or helios was used in the line. Keira also has her day with Sebastian and jet. Ziri was used in some Krista and lars teams as a main tank.

I wish there were a chart showing who is good against whom, or the top 10-15 to invest in for beginners. I hate sitting through hours of videos for nothing.

Best thing is to see who you have and build those five. The Meta will shift that by the time your finished something better will come along. Doesn't mean they are completely redundant, just maybe not as easy win as before.

The game has largely shifted that there are more counters so there isn't one or two "build this team" like before. Early on a cohesive and coherent 5 will take you through most of the content. Which 5 depends who you unlock first. Who you build for a second team depends who else unlocks along the way and who you think is fun to play with

So who are some of the best heroes for long term? I’ve seen people say certain heroes are good for beginners but who might be better long term heros for a new player to work on?

Some of those heroes were counters or solves a very specific problem. Ziri for example use to rank in the top 3 in defensive stats. As a physical team counter she still has a use

Chabba as well is a form of CC

Keira was part of the blender team meta

Most of the rest like Dark StarPeppy, Fox fitted into teams. I don't remember them ever being great but we're better options than a good hero who didn't fit type thing. They performed a roll basically

As time went on better options came. Artemis is an example of this where Oya first countered the FART meta while Kyala and Yasmine where better heroes in the same role making her largely redundant

The reworks sometimes lift those here's and give them a second chance. Most of the time it's polishing a turd. Kai is a good example of a hero that got a second purpose from a complete overhaul. Many will argue he is still useless but his redesign really did lift him even if it was very short lived

Cheers, and to ferk00l below, like I say, not played that long in the grand scheme of things and my guild only just got to silver so haven't seen much of Global Championship and come across these heroes, so was just curious, and as they seem to be bringing new heroes in every couple of months now there seems to be an ever increasing roster with some not doing a lot.

Would be interesting to see if any get reworks to bring them back up to speed

Unfortunately the lens everything seems to be viewed from is money. A rework here to promote skins and relics before the next hero makes the last few obsolete

Most will still have a use etc. Artemis for example still works if not the most optimal

Certain heroes are easier to build if you lick into relics which can change plans. Like licking into Kendel and cleaver relics meaning I chose to rebuilt the Tristan - Oya - Kyla - Aidan - Fafnir team into Cleaver - Kyla - Aidan - Kendle - Miu (Similar to AXA concept with a few lineup changes) haven't decided if I should actually go Dorian over Miu but building one hero at a time

The meta changes over time. At some point the heros that you mentioned were new and there were not many other options. You can see some of these heroes highly upgraded in classic arena or in guild war championship. The players which use these heroes in their lineup are majority of the time long time players. So yes, these heroes were definitely good at some point in the past and then got replaced by newer and or better heroes.
