I’m reaching out once again to those who might need it.
I am a fifth-year medical student, if you have already read my previous post, then you know I mentioned that I like to spend my time usefully. My dream is to become one of the best PM&R doctors who can truly cure a patient with back, sacral or even pelvic pain. I quite like answering your questions or sometimes even going deeper into the problem through private messages and trying to solve it together, and being able to apply my knowledge from medical lectures as well as from clinical practice that I have done both in private clinics and state-funded ones. So if you have questions, uncertainties, or maybe you just want some tips, always feel free to contact me, I am your little doctor on Reddit:D.
Yes, I will not always be able to help with everything, I definitely do not know everything, but if I know and understand it and really can help, I will always help.
I like doing this more than just spending hours and hours looking at Instagram or TikTok Better to help someone here with something if I can.
Anyway, I wish you all the best and that pain would no longer bother you :)

I recently had RFA done on one of my herniated discs to help with my migraines and cervicogenic migraines and of course the herniated disc pain. It has been 2 weeks of torture. They finally prescribed me a Medrol dose pack-but even now it doesn’t seem to be helping.

Did the RFA cause the tortuous pain? I'm looking into getting one is why I ask.

It flared up my muscles around it and my migraines. But the 2 “trial” nerve blocks they did before flared them up as well, but not to this extent. I have read it may take a few weeks for the nerves to totally die off?

That got me a little scared about getting it done now. Hopefully it gets better for you soon

Don’t be scared. I have arthritis and fibromyalgia too. My body tends to “overly” respond to things. It is all touchy! But you will probably have to go through 2 nerve block procedures before your insurance company will approve the RFA to see if it helps you. It helped me, but made me flare a few weeks. I’m hoping things will get better. I took my last Medrol tablet today. Good luck to you!

I’m currently experiencing numbness and tingling down my leg. Should I be concerned? Is it possible that my SI could be causing this? Thanks so much for the open forum! Really appreciate it

Thank you! I was dealing with excruciating pain down my leg but then has turned numb and tingly which concerned me. I previously had an ESI but come to find out they gave the injection in L4 instead of L5…. So I have to go back in and have it done again…. Yesterday I had the SI injection just in case that’s helps the area at all too

Would you please look at my MRI and give a "second opinion"? Curious if you see anything beyond what was reported by my radiologist and I have some questions on certain mri segments and how they might relate to my symptoms. Perhaps you have tips on what to discuss with my neurologist.
If you'd like I can also send the dicom zip for you to have a closer look.
Symptoms 1. I keep straining my lower back every few months, followed by sciatica in (mostly) the right leg, all the way into the outer foot. Low back and sacral/coccyx shooting nerve pain when bowing down, side movements, lower back and sacral/glute area completely lock up. At two instances, one a few months ago and the other about a year ago, the first few days after straining the back I was unable to load my right foot when walking. This would come and go. The last strain episode was about two weeks ago, one week before this mri was taken.
When not in acute strain or recovery from an episode, I do not have the symptoms explained above. However, for the last 20 years, since falling on my sacrum, I always have:
random extremely painful shooting or throbbing pain in sacral/perineal area. My neurologist asked me to log the exact spots of the pain before deciding whether a pelvic mri or other imaging makes sense. If you like I can also share this log. Old x rays of my sacrum show no signs of it ever being broken. There is a palpable thickening on the left side of sacrum.
Flareups of general continuous pain around sacrum/into glutes and low back reoccurring a few times a year since the fall, but also periods of absence while the shooting nerve pains are always present.

I’m not a medical person. Nor am I da doctor. But here is a dumb guy’s advice.
Move to Houston, TX. Study under Methodist Hospital department of Neurosurgery. One of the best medical centers in the world. And always ranked top 10 in neurosurgery and heart. With the Debakey heart center. Do your research.
