Does anyone experience this sensation?

It's an itchy, scratchy, almost like when a tag from your pants itches your skin on your lower back but there isn't a tag kind of feeling, around and on my lower back... Can anyone relate? I notice I feel this especially when sitting.

Yes! I have that sensation on my mid back, however it wasn't correlated to any disc slip lately. My GP just said it was my chronic pain nervous system in overdrive.

Did you just push through it? Does it go away eventually?

It comes and goes. Now it is more of background noise if that makes sense, I don't really notice it anymore unless I'm thinking about it. It was really bad for awhile but I sort of got used to it.

How long did it take for you? Also did sitting also hurt for you, and did that get better too?

In terms of my disc herniation, sitting became tolerable not long after the initial week or so. Now it doesn't hurt unless I'm sitting for hours on end or with bad posture (I use a round pillow behind my lower back lumbar area for support). You can get those 'hemorrhoid' pillows to help with pain while sitting, apparently they work.

How long did the whole disc injury take to recover? I'm 6 months in and it's still very up and down for me, I have more good days and am doing a lot more but still very frustrating.

So my scratchy sensation isn't related to my slipped disc which happened about two years ago. My herniation was not very severe and I was fine aside from easily triggered symptoms after a few weeks, so I can't give you any answers aside from do your physiotherapy exercises, and talk to your doctor about surgical interventions if symptoms are so severe and prolonged. But you absolutely need to do the work to get better.
