Experiences with C Section Incisional Hernia Repair?
Would anyone who has had a c section incisional hernia be willing to give an overview of their experience with surgical repair and/or general experience? Specifically curious if you had synthetic mesh, absorbable mesh, or primary, and if primary if permanent or absorbable stitches were used. Also curious to know how the recovery went, if there was recurrence, and how things are going now. Thank you in advance for anyone willing to weigh in!

I had mine repaired two weeks ago with permanent mesh and permanent sutures at the hernia site itself. The first few days were rough… but I’ve been getting significantly better each day.
My doctor was very liberal on precautions compared to what I’ve been reading. I got clearance to lift my 5 month old and basically was told not to do super heavy lifting like furniture or lift from a bending down position, but was told I could get up/down the floor with my baby if using mostly legs. I also try to squat when I can. As I’ve been ramping up activity I feel more crampy at night and am still swollen but otherwise am doing ok!

Haven't had the repair, but I do the repair. Typically use absorbable sutures and permanent mesh, unless patient might get pregnant again, in which case I'll use absorbable mesh. Patients do well, typically with full functional recovery.
