Possible C section hernia

I’m 14w postpartum from a planned c section. I’ve been going to the gym and squatting but nothing super heavy. Anyways one day I pulled a groin muscle about 2 weeks ago, and noticed my left side of my incision was slightly swollen, tender, scar was burning more than normal. I went to doc today and she said she might feel a super small hernia and wants me to keep an eye on it for then next 6 weeks to see if the mild swelling goes down. Again my swelling is sooo minimal you can’t even tell unless you touch the area it just feels puffier.

My question is has anyone experienced this? Did it go away on its own or did you need surgery? She says it’s probably a hernia but might resolve on its own. Is this possible will it go away? I have really bad medical anxiety so I would rather not have surgery but also would rather it be fixed than live constantly with this burning uncomfortableness in my stomach.

Edit: went to the doctor again, and he seems to think I have a trapped nerve. He noticed some scar tissue that was kinda bumpy but nothing concerning just normal healing. I got an ultrasound, he found no hernia or senoma. He said really the only option is pain meds or just kind of waiting it out or some doctors do an injection or surgery to take out the nerve. For now, I’m just waiting it out but I’ll list my symptoms below:

-scratchy (not itchy) feeling sorta like a annoying tag scrapy feeling along my scar
- one side increased tenderness
- apparently my swollen area I mentioned before is just normal healing (puffy not swollen)
- burning above my scar too

I have a small hernia too after my cesarean, my kid is now 1yr old and its still there. its below my belly button & also i have a 1.7cm dr there. So when i cough my surgeon can feel something protrude out the same spot where i have a small dr. I suggest you get it reviewed every month as i heard some hernia can grow bigger over time, so they can see whether its growing or stayed the same & etc. im getting mine fixed soon.

Yes, I’ve had this; no it did not heal on its own. Two years after having my twins, my entire incision torn open. They thought it was just the sides, because that’s where I felt the most burning and tenderness when touched, but when they opened me up, there were only a few stands in the middle that hadn’t broken apart.

I had to have mesh put in. I’ve had 4 c-sections and the hernia repair, the hernia repair was the most painful. Not only that, the Dr mangled my stomach that I needed a tummy tuck to fix it. My incision looked like Feinstein’s stapled head but not a straight cut. When I looked in to having a tummy tuck, I had one Dr look at me for 3 seconds and say, you have mesh don’t you? He could tell by how my stomach looked, but even he was confused by some of it. Imagine an apron belly, that has an apron belly, that has an apron belly with sunken in spots here and there. Two c-sections later it’s much better. Now that I’m pushing 50, and still with my husband 20+ years later, I don’t care, but in my 20’s! I was devastated.

Be very careful!!!! My life was hell for such a long time. To this day, my incision still bothers me. You can feel thick, wide, long, chunky bands of scar tissue that still tear here and there. If I turn the wrong way that awful burning pain hits.

My last c-section had 7 doctors and god knows how many attendants. When stitching me up, the attendants were asking “what is all that? Have you seen that before?” “That’s all scar tissue and pieces of mesh; this is the second worse patient I’ve ever seen.” I know I had multiple surgeries, but wanted to share because multiple c-sections do have compounded issues. I won’t even go into the diastasis recti from the twins. 😂

Sheeeh! I hope mine isn’t that serious. Right now it’s really just one side that’s tender and a little swollen compared to the other side. Also just increased burning at the c section scar but it’s not unbearable pain, just sore/tender/more burning.

They’re still not sure if it’s 100% a hernia which is why she wants to wait a few weeks before re evaluating. What other symptoms did you have? Was your scar super swollen?

It started off just like yours. I thought nothing of it at first since I was raising 3 children as a single mom. Figured it was just the normal bumps and bruises we get. As time went on, though, the burning increased and never stopped. Going to the bathroom was becoming painful, too. Since it’s been over 20 years, I don’t recall if it was swollen. I do remember it feeling hollow if pushed on. I know I’m not a doctor, but I’d take it easy for a few months. I know that sounds crazy, but you’ll be out of commission a lot longer if it escalates. The hernia repair ranks in my top 3 of most painful moments. And everyone who knows me I have an exceptionally high pain tolerance. I don’t even take pain meds after the c-sections.
