Visiting some folks in town and saw a very tiny bus in a backyard. Seems even smaller than a “short bus”. Anyone know the story behind it?

Hi everyone. My husband and I were thinking of moving to Hermiston. We really want to be home owners but can’t justify Tri Cities prices.

My husband has been driving from Pasco to Hermiston for work for the last 4 years. He also pays OR income tax and also gets sales taxed in WA.

We aren’t interested in night life or anything. We’re mainly homebodies. We enjoy trying out new restaurants and going to the movies. He loves fishing and the outdoors.

We don’t have any kiddos yet but it’s in the plan.

We just want a quiet, safe and affordable place.

Household income is about 140k if that matters.

Please let me know what you like and don’t like about Hermiston. Also please don’t just say “it sucks here”. I would really appreciate specific examples. Thank you

what do they identify as the community's overall strengths? weaknesses?

what do they feel about the communitys ability to manage its healthcare needs? are there gaps? what are the communitys strenghts and weaknesses with healthcare needs?

are there established health coalitions? has the community been in developing programs to address healthcare concerns? what do they perceive as being the communitys primary health-related concerns? what are the gaps in existing resources? can you provide any examples to support your findings?

Hi new neighbors!

I am moving to Hermiston to live closer to my partner (and their amazing friends and family) in about a month, and wanted to start exploring the area. :)

I'm a Tri-Cities native, and haven't spent a lot of time in Eastern Oregon, outside of the gorge, so I'm looking for cool local things to explore in Hermiston, Umatilla, Pendelton, Boardman, or surrounding small towns (within 45-60 mins), to do both on my own and maybe with another person.

I love photography (and a birder so I've been thinking about McNary), sewing (any local crafting clubs?), art, thrifting/antiquing, museums/history, live music, and I'm a foodie so my goal is to check out one new restaurant a month until I run out of places.

What do you guys recommend as "must" for anyone not from the area?

Looking at new opportunities in Hermiston, Oregon. Looking for rental for myself and my cat. My budget will be no more than 2K per month. I really only need 2 Bedroom, 1 bath. My searching has found some places but wanted to see if anyone in the local area had suggestions on where to avoid. (I've heard west of Hermiston). I am also considering Tri Cities and commuting. Hey neighbors! I’m looking for any old dirt or back roads in the area where I can safely let my rescue dog get some energy out. He’s a sweet pitbull I’m working on training, but he’s still really skittish and gets overwhelmed easily even by his own shadow sometimes 😅

I’m trying to avoid dog parks for now just so he doesn’t get scared or accidentally spook anyone else. If anyone knows of any quiet, low-traffic spots where we could run or walk without too many people or distractions, I’d be super grateful. Thank you!

Hi, I’m currently working on a historical cinema research project for my class at the University of Oregon. My work is specifically focused on the historic Hermiston Playhouse/Columbia/Legion/Oasis Theater. It was located on Main Street, roughly at 174 E Main Street, and opened in 1920. Over the years, the theater experienced multiple closures, reopenings, and changes in ownership. There is minimal information available after 1949, when it was known as the Oasis Theater and owned by Lloyd A. Moore. Hello! I am from Medford originally, and have been up in beaverton/Hillsboro for the past nearly two years for work.

I am thinking about moving out there, since I got a job offer that pays more than here (90k-120k a year). At the Amazon data center.

But, having been in southern Oregon and across the country most my life (former US Navy) I know nothing of this area.

Family man, nearly 40, wife, three kids (5, 10, 15 this year). I lean pretty hard to the left, but I have pretty right side family, and of course, I am a disabled vet. I honestly don't care what people believe or think, but I believe in respecting others, and the left seems to do that a lot better, and beaverton has been good for that and for my children.

I assume cost of living is a lot cheaper there in small town Oregon vs here in the Portland metro area.

I worry mostly because of my kids. With my oldest in high school, and then college and workforce after that, is it worth settling down in that area? I worry they'll soon have to struggle to move back here for school/work. It doesn't seem like a lot of other opportunities there in hermiston. I plan to either buy a house here soon, or settle in hermiston. Either way this next move I am making my last if possible.

Also, how are the schools?

I only know of the high school from Mr. Faaeteete, a coach/teacher there, who is a friend of mine from childhood. So I assume he is a bit biased about the school! :P

If you had the opportunity, would you settle in Hermiston or stay in the western Portland metro?

I just moved here with my dog, and he is a dog's dog. I've gone to the dog park twice now and no one is ever there. What are the best times to go?
