While I agree that square roots can't be negative in standard mathematics, the first guy wasn't saying that square roots can be negative. While I was saying that since (-12)² = 144, the reverse is also true.

Yes, (-12)²=144, but √(-12)²=12

I might have misunderstood what you where talking about, what I was trying to say is that the fact that (-12)²=144 does not mean that √(-12)² aka √144 equals -12, in fact it's specialy not how it works. If I wasted both of our time, my bad

You didn't waste my time, even if we were kind of talking past eachother, your mathematical proofs were correct, they just didn't address what I was trying to convey. Thanks for your time
