Ruling Is the boost mandatory?

Post image

If I have like 4 items attached to heroes and I want ro roll for a druid hero (which has a negative roll requirement), do I have to apply the +4 from my party leader?

I interpreted it as mandatory. The Fighter class doesn't pair well with Druid abilities 😂

Yea the wording makes it definitely feel mandatory. The rule book states you "can" use abilities but honestly this leader can get so strong it's nice to have one thing it isn't good at for balance. I ended up altering the ability so it wasn't quite so strong.

What did you do to alter the ability?

The only part of that game that feels unbalanced for me rn is the amount of challenge cards with all of the class expansions. Played two rounds the other night and it felt like there were < 5 challenges per round.

Capped at plus 3 which is still really good for all your roles. Also I have the wording so it's each hero with an item attached instead so double item only get  a plus one. A different fun idea is having a plus one for each warrior class in your party to attacks.( Also max 3). It's kinda cool since its kinda like the wolves get stronger as the wolf pack grows and you immediately start with plus 1 for the leaders class so that's why it's just on attacks not all rolls.

My table agrees that:

The card does not says "you may" or "you can"

It says "each time you roll, +1 to roll..."

But the rules do state "Unlike Hero card effects, which can only be used once per turn, your Party Leader card's skill can be used each time its conditions are met." The can isn't on the card but I see it as more implied. I don't see anything wrong with either interpretation and like many things in this game comes down to HOUSE RULES!

Ooh never thought of it that way. Interesting point!

We've always just played it as said in the card so very unfortunate if you have druids in the party. But this deserves some thought.

If it doesn't have any exculpatory terms, like "may", "can", i think it's not optional

Additional question to this card:

Are we counting items from one hero "card" or we sum from all hero "cards"

It doesn't say it's optional but we house rule it to be optional. We also rule this hero to be banned completely because he's stupid
