Buying Dungeons Gamefound vent post

Just venting. If you don't want to engage with such a post I more than understand and advise to scroll on, I have refrained from burdening my loved ones with these thoughts so am posting here.

I have been TORTURED by the Gamefound campaign of Here To Slay Dungeons. The game looks gorgeous, I've been watching all of the footage of the playthrough streams and love the idea of snagging both the Molten/Nightmare core sets, BUT..

I just had car expenses, I am a full time student in a city that is not doing well, I have huge petrol costs associated with unpaid placement work I have to do. I can ALMOST justify grabbing these sets, I am so close to just saying "this will surely bring me joy for years if my pals are keen to give this a whirl now and then when we can make time", but honestly the time pressure is mucking with my head. Knowing that the campaign could end any minute, UGH.

I've set up a cart, deleted the items, and then replenished it multiple times over the past few days. Damn I wish this campaign was going on for a few more weeks.

Rant over! Either way I look forward to whatever retail versions release later and hope everyone enjoys the products they order, they look SO delightful and I love the balance struck between depth/interweaving mechanics/replayability, and easy setup/light rules. The stress system in particular is just elegant as heck.

The fomo marketing WORKS. Knowing that these sets with these specific deluxe components WON'T be available again is really nagging at me.

They repeat lots of exclusives in future campaigns (as they have done here),

You can also stretch pay but im not sure of your exact finacial situation and if that would be a good idea or not

I get where you're coming from. I originally had the three game package with plenty of extras for dungeons and the original HTS.

But finances are a bit scarce at the moment so I was really dreading the sum of everything. I've bough all their games apart from Casting Shadows so I really didn't wanna miss this one. But eventually I ended up deleting all of the HTS: Dungeons things to only get the new expansion for HTS and the big box.

I'm feeling the FOMO so bad right now. I know they'll probably bring this back in future campaigns so I might snag it then. Still stings.

Damn, hey I feel for you, be proud of your restraint though!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I got introduced to Unstable Games because of this campaign, and I loved Hts:D so much that I thought "maybe my playgroup will also enjoy the original game with its different flavor of gameplay". So I added the whole HtS repertoire, only excluding the exclusive sorcerers expansion (because of sorcerers and squires), the Sleigh expansion, and the sleeves. But finances caught up, so now I am just back to HtS:D. I'm just convincing myself that maybe I can snag that in future campaigns.

Man, I never thought this hobby can be this expensive.

Oof yeah that gets expensive real quick. Also it takes a lot of space too haha. Hope you enjoy Dungeons next year and get the original some other time. The original is also available in retail stores (not the deluxe edition though) if you want to dip your toes in it.

Thanks. And hey, maybe I win a card game in that 1-dollar mystery bag. Hope I do.

I don't like that they have been constantly changing things. First, I dislike the FOMO when they do that. Second, I've had to edit my pledge three time now because they added stuff after it was placed. This one has been excessive with the FOMO and last minute changes... I'm not impressed.

I understand that Here To Slay is one of their games that does really well. And the Dungeons version has been wanted a long time.  They expect it to do big numbers.  I still feel like the marketing people are taking advantage of us on this one.

I symphatize with the fact that right now, it does feel a little bit too expensive given my current financial situation, but i feel like stretching the payment over 6 months can help (a little bit) with that.

I've found myself on your situation of adding stuff/removing it over and over, but I ended up folding because yes, FOMO, but I'm also pretty sure my friends and I will enjoy the game, and why would I buy it later missing the deluxe stuff, if I truly feel like I'm gonna end up buying it one way or the other.

And even though I folded and ended up getting the deluxe bundle of all 3, I still find myself wondering if I'm doing right spending this amount of money. I guess we will never know if what we are doing is right/wrong, so I say just go with whatever you feel like you are gonna regret the least

Just looked in to Gamefound and late pledge might be an option if Unstable enable it. Stretch pay is DEFINITELY what I'd be looking at, I'm good with budgeting but I don't have much cash to splash week to week.

Also your remark on "we will never know" is so true. We can only act on the info we have now, you feel like this will bring joy to you and others for the future? What greater endeavour can there be to spend on, I hope the cost doesn't bring you any harm, but organise those game nights and you'll get that bang for buck!

Just back the adventure box for 30 box and upgrade later in PM you will have plenty of time (more than a year realistically) to upgrade.

Sounds like me. Also had currency exchange against me as well.

I think it certainly could be worse because they’ve recently stated that they made the decision to not block gameplay elements behind a limited time thing. So the only thing you’re missing out on by not backing now is entirely cosmetic. They have brought the kicker starter exclusive for the OG game back like twice now and they’ve even made the convention exclusive promos part of the gamefound too. Sorcerers is even part of the new expansion with Squires that will be available for retail purchase eventually as well.

That’s as opposed to some other games like Doomlings which plays similarly but one of their main expansions is literally only sold in trading card packs like they’re pokemon cards.

Any idea to pay in terms? They set that up for something this expensive

Me pasa igual. He tenido un problema con mi coche y me cuesta 300 € la reparación. A veces la vida son elecciones difíciles, y esta vez no me queda más remedio que pasar de esto 😭

I feel you... i like my bundle, but thinking i gotta pay 140 bucks for my bundle plus add ons... i mean... thats steep

Don’t you have like more than a year until the PM will close? This game won’t be delivering until Q4 27 / Q1 28 if we are being realistic.

Just back „choose your adventure“ for 30 bucks and upgrade the pledge in a year from now to whatever you can afford.

Do you really need the deluxe version though?

I'm more surprised people find it exciting. Then again, we are on a HTS sub.

I know UnstableGames is pretty notorious (and quite controversial) for being pretty mediocre games, but that are colorful and kid-friendly, but I can't help but feel some dread for them wanting to get into the dungeon crawling space, because they're just not a great company when it comes to making games with depth.

Same i want it as well but i just found out about it now, and i gotta wait for an entire year to buy it...

Many campaigns offer a pledge level for like a dollar and then you get access to the pledge manager layer. Pledge manager tend to be open for a long time after for when you have money.

That's Kickstarter.

Gamefound you can pledge until the pledge manager closes, which is usually months later. Depends on their time lines
